Have happily been on 20mg Lisinopril and 25mg Spironolactone for some years, but now after early breast cancer in 21 now on Letrozole 2.5mg. The Letrozole increases the BP and cholesterol.
My BP has been going up from 115-20/62 ish, to now 166/78 this morning, along with swollen feet and ankles, even though my Lisinopril has just been increased to 30mg. This was prescribed by the cardiologist. I was trialled on Doxasosin 1 &2 mg, but had awful side effects from that so the Lisinopril was added instead.
I also have a BRVO, so want to keep my BP on the low side to prevent any backlash on that front!
I shall contact my GP again, but any hints or tips to get the BP back down would be appreciated!!
I'm sorry to hear about the breast cancer. I hope your treatment has been successful and assume since you are now on letrozole you are in the 5 year treatment regime to prevent recurrence. I too had breast cancer and was prescribed letrozole. It didn't affect my BP but I did eventually get it changed to tamoxifen by my oncologist due to other side effects. It might be worth you getting in touch with the oncologist for advice and a possible drug change. I hope you feel better soon.
I did get swollen feet and ankles quite badly on letrozole along with a lot of other side effects however I do not think it affected my BP. I also gained a lot of weight which I could not shift. Hope that you can sort out your meds and take care. I would drink lemon barley water and soak my feet in epsom salts to stop my feet and and ankles swelling and also parsley tea.
Hi there, I was controlling my BP and SVT well with Bisoprolol and Amlodipine until my breast cancer diagnosis in 2019. I'm 70 and since being on Letrozole my BP and cholesterol are high too. Then to make it more complicated, I've developed postural hypotension so my GP has been trying different meds/combinations to get things under control. Tried stopping Amlodipine, BP sky high, was veering up to 200/93 tried Ramipril, bad side effects, so now back to original Bisoprolol/Amlodipine regime and compression stockings to help with postural hypotension. GP recommends staying well hydrated, avoid alcohol, all the usual things which I do anyway. It's a problem, but we need the Letrozole. I wish I knew the answer, I follow all the tips, regular exercise, avoid salt etc. Sorry I don't have any good tips, but I send my best wishes to you.
