Hi all.Im really concerned that my heart rate is a bit on the low side.Between mid forties and 50 when reading, resting etc.I can actually feel it trying to beat if you know what I mean.Last May I had a flutter ablation as heart rate was too fast.Im wondering if this shows I have trouble with the sinus node now.Any responses I would be grateful for Thanks .

Slow heart rate
Hi I am 54 and had a slow heart rate and it turns out I had heart block and had a pacemaker fitted, don’t worry unduly but might be worth checking with your doctor and possibly having an ECG
If you are really concerned you should talk to your GP who can provide a professional opinion based on your medical record and condition as presented.
HI
I am in the same boat as you at the moment mine went to 34 the other day and the hospital and GP said it is nothing to worry about but they would like it a bit faster! It makes me feel awful at times and then the panic starts to set in and the over thinking! I suppose we have to trust in the doctors although since my HA in April I have not seen or heard from a cardiologist! They say I don't need one! I'm mended.
The problem is you just need that reassurance and in Colchester you don't even get a phone call. I have asked my GP to go to the cardiologist but there is always an excuse. I am now thinking of going to see one privately.
I hope this shows you are not alone and wish you well.
So frustrating. Your health care system over there is a disaster! Bradycardia is an issue with some seniors. I'm not sure your age, but this can come about for various reasons due to medications, sinus node dysfunctions, sleep apnea, and on and on. If you are feeling dizzy, faintness, or light headed often, then your cardio should be consulted. I know that some are treated with meds, pacemakers, etc. For those that are athletes, they can have resting heart rates in the high 30-mid 40 with no issues. Check to make sure you are getting enough electrolytes as your heart depends on that to work properly. I take CO-Q10 daily as it's great for the heart muscle. All you really need is about 100mg daily. Best wishes to figure out your problem!
Hi Ethel. I had pleurisy back in November and my BPM dropped to 37. The GP picked up on the low heart rate and ran an ECG. I was then admitted to hospital and tests incidentally found that I have a faulty sinus node and am waiting to see cardiologist end of January for possible pacemaker fitting. Pleurisy symptoms aside, I have been tired for years and out of puff just at pilates or on a dog walk. I do feel heart flutters occasionally. I am overweight but walk every day so am not unfit. I thought the low BPM was due to taking propranolol for panic attacks but I stopped taking that over a year ago and my BPM didn't pick up. I haven't fainted for a few years but have felt dizzy standing up quickly etc. So pretty asymptomatic for sinus arrest and if it wasn't for the pleurisy, I don't think I'd know about it. Would you be able to go to the GP and ask for an ECG? I know seeing a GP is really hard but if you are anxious they should see you to rule out reasons for the low BPM. Since being in hospital, I have had 24 monitoring through wearing a holter monitor at home and the results confirmed I have sinus arrest. I hope this helps and if you have any further questions, please message back. I will keep everything crossed for you that you get it sorted as it is hard when you feel anxious.
