Slow heart rate

I honestly don’t know how to start this and feel really silly as probably nothing. Don’t really want to bother the doctor right now as so busy with everything that’s going on

I have been monitoring my heart rate recently. Tonight and a few other times

I can feel my heart rate drop I then get very lightheaded and need to sit. It has dropped below 58 a few times now.

I think I’m only slightly more concerned as my mother lived with angina fir many years and had a stroke in her 70s and passed. My Dad had a triple bypass in his late 50s.

Maybe just my imagination running overtime. Thanks for reading Sharon

Firstly you don’t say if you are on any medication or if you have a heart related condition? How and why are you monitoring. HR of 58 a lot of people on here including myself have much lower resting HR. My rate is normal between 45/55. But in all cases if you feel there is a problem you must consult your GP.

Hello as gilreid1 says HR of 58 or lower lots of us have me included. Mine is due to medication, you don’t say what if anything you are on in your bio or what heart condition you have. But if this HR is something new to you seeking help from your GP or your cardiologist is something you should do.

Take care Pauline

I have a naturally slow HR & remember on one of my many visits to the Freeman being asked "did I have a heartbeat" as it was approx 36 at the time. Now having all my medication sorted out I'm low to mid fifties now.

I agree with the other posts but just want to add that no heart related question on this forum is silly. I say that from personal experience having posted several "silly" questions and got well considered serious helpful replies back.

Bradycardia is, I think, defined as a heart rate below 60 bpm, but if you are feeling light-headed then it might be worth talking to someone.

When I was an endurance athlete (I cycled 760 miles in 87 hours in 1995) a pulse rate of 30 was OK, but when I had persistent AF 35 bpm was not OK - and I was waking up paralysed from the eyelids down.

They fixed my bradycardia with a pacemaker, and now my night time pulse rate is usually about 53. I still get postural hypotension regularly - and I hope they will turn up my pacemaker next week.

my average daily heart rate is between 50-55.. during the night can range between 38-46.. on several heart related meds.. i believe that’s what causes the low HR.. Cardiologist and GP not too concerned.. but been told if i feel really unwell to call 999
