I was at the doctors for a pill check (Microgynon30) on Tuesday and I had my blood pressure checked and also my heart rate. My heart rate was at 114.
I had an ECG done last year as I was having the feeling of skipped/missed beats and they said it was fast (never said how fast though) and also I had a 24hr monitor which also showed a fast heart rate (also didn't say how fast) they never mentioned anything about missed beats being shown, but they said that they didn't need to do anymore investigation.
Just wanting to know if anyone else has had this problem of a fast heart rate or missed beats etc.
Thanks 🙂

Hi Melaniejm, I suffer with a fast heart rate with other problems & have had it for many yrs, it's not nice as means you have to take things slowler, mine varies from 105-120 & has peeked @ 160!
I am monitored for my other heart problems & it took 16 mnths for the hosiptal to admit that it's fast
They always just put it down to being nervous when going to the doctors, but it doesn't explain why it's fast when I'm at home at rest etc. I am thinking that it could be something to do with the pill I take but they always dismiss it and say it can't be that.
They never even gave me any advice on how to slow my heart rate or how to help it, they just said there's no more investigation needed even though all I had done was blood, ECG, 24hr monitor and blood pressure checked.
To slow heart rate, mines permanently fast and erratic. Was on bisoprolol and nebivilol but side effects for me were horrific. They do the same job only in a different way. They try bisoprolol first because its cheapest!
Yes I was diagnosed with fast HR last year and High BP.... rushed in as thought I had Sepsis!! Then came back as having AF had a Cardioversion done successfully. Then on Blood Thinners for 6 months, Bisoprolol 0.25mg every other day. Ramipril each day.... Doing well now touch wood....Do plenty of exercise and working hard at losing weight....
Never be afraid to ask more questions . If you are told your heart rate is fast..... ask “how fast and what does this mean” sometimes you will only be told what you want to know!! The medical team are there to help and reassure you. Never be afraid to ask.
Hi i went to the docs late december last year with vertigo my doc took my blood pressure and heart rate mine was both sky high the more he took it i could feel my heart getting faster which as never happened before at docs as im usually calm he finished up calling a ambulance where they did a heart trace and while on route to hospital blood pressure checks which slowly came down ,had ecg at hospital said it was a bit fast but ok went home later in the day basically put it down to white coat syndrome ,went to see doc again week after for my vertigo my blood pressure was high again so she put me on a low dose of blood pressure tabs i know myself i was working my self up in the waiting room so i am trying to relax more when i go .
I've had ECG, 24hr monitor, blood pressure, bloods done and they've never said it's anything, so if it was AF do you think they would have said? I check my pulse when I'm at home and my heart rate is not fast all the time.
I’ve been. Through same problem. My heart rate while sleeping / resting has various. Readings ranging from 40+ to 200+.
Had a week long ecg fitted .
Was discharged. From cardiology because I had over 30 episodes and reader only registeres 10. I also put my pulse readings down for full week which was taken on Apple Watch every 1 hour & 1 min periods.
Go doesn’t unstand Y I was discharged and I gone back on to GTN Tablets which eases pain but doesn’t do anything for breathing.
My resting heart rate at home is always around 112. GP tried me on beta blockers but I had awful problems with two different ones so he stopped them and said he's not concerned about the heart rate. It never drops below 92. Had heart attack from a 100% blocked artery. second angiogram shows the others are ok
I have A fib abd have had to have a cardioverion and drugs. Apixiban etc. Now I am getting a pacemaker which has me puzzled as I thought they were only for slow pulses. I have had a resting pulse of 50 for many years but it will go as high as 170.
