dapagliflozin and UTIs? Low right belly pain and peeing a lot more than usual. Is this a side effect?

Last few days i feel like slight pain in lower right belly area and seem to be peeing more than usual. I have been on dapa for a couple months now. Is this a sign of a side effect? I dont get burning when peeing or any other noticeable symptoms. Just mild pain

Don't know about the belly pain but increased peeing is expected and UTI is also common. I had a UTI caused by Dapa a couple of months back and as soon as I mentioned it my GP said oh you are on that here's a prescription.

Apparently Dapa is geared to removing upper body fluid (as per my consultant) but it also removes sugar so you are peeing sugar which encourages UTI's. I would suggest contacting your GP now, getting the fully fledged infection was awful, I spent 4 days sleeping downstairs because it was quicker getting to the toilet and didn't disturn the wife.

I've been on this drug for two months fof HF with preserved EF56%My cardiologist warned me about UYIs and Thrush so far I've had neither.

The peeing as already said is what it does is taking the sugar out of the system don't forget it's a type 2 diabetes drug.

I've reduced sugar in my diet so 1 biscuit day I hope that keeps the UTIs away I have had the odd ones in the past so don't want theagain

I’d just rang the docs go get an appointment this afternoon for same bladder pressure pain then read your post I’m on Dapa as well since December. I’ve had lower back pain though due to disc pressure on my spine so put it down to a nerve pressing on my bladder perhaps. Have you got lower back pain as well?

GP has booked a CT scan for Wednesday for Kidney stones & bladder but I think it’s my discs pressing on a nerve so we will see. Thank you for replying, Joy.
