low Blood Pressure
Hello
I am not sure what you can do about the dizziness due to low blood pressure but your Doctor I would hope is doing something to try and get it up ?
I would talk with them and let them know how bad this is affecting you
Some other members may have some better ideas that suffer with low BP when they read your post
Let us know how you get on x
l have low blood pressure. The things l watch for are getting out of bed slowly, getting up from sitting slowly. If feeling faint put your head between your knees, don’t have a too hot bath or shower and keep bathroom ventilated, eat more salt, excercise regularly eg. don’t sit for long periods and most important of all drink, drink and more drink - not alcohol of course. If you feel very faint, or exceptionally dizzy and it interferes with your life, mention it to your GP. That’s how l cope. It can be a worry if you let it, but low blood pressure is normal for some people. All the best. 👍 Ps. I noticed you are on Bisoprolol. Don’t know what dose but that can lower blood pressure too much. Perhaps your meds need adjusting. Ther are many alternatives so don’t be fobbed off.
How low is your blood pressure? To raise your blood pressure in the short term you need to drink plenty of fluids (if you're not on fluid restrictions) & elevate your legs. However, if your BP is is causing symptoms, ie dizzyness, fainting etc then you need to speak to your medical team ASAP as it's important to know what's causing your low blood pressure, it may simply be a case of tweaking your meds.
need to do the obvious and increase fluids! Got a 24/7 wrist monitor showing 100/65 average so possibly a meds amendment will be the way. At beginning of journey and finding out how to manage! Appreciate all advice thanks
Wrist monitors are not very accurate, personally I would invest in an upper cuff monitor, much more accurate. Omron are very good monitors and not particularly expensive. 100/65 wouldn't really be classed as low BP, the 65 is on the low side but definitely within range. However, if you have calculated the 65 as an average from all your readings then it's likely you've been below that level at times hence the dizzyness. Do you take your blood pressure when you're having a dizzy spell as that will be what your Dr will be interested in.
The figures you give for your blood pressure makes no sense and actually would not sustain life.Your GTN spray and Bisoprolol will cause a drop in BP.
Why have you been prescribed the Beta Blocker?
Am I missing something here? The OP has said he's average BP is 100/65, how would those figures not sustain life?
Mine is 76/41 at the moment and very much alive !
Mine can go as low as that at times. I average 92/53….. l am alive👍
That is low but you are surviving. The OP said his is 100/110 and that cannot sustain life.
l have no problems and very rarely when it has dropped to 80/40 l have only slight dizziness and l just up the fluids and move around and it adjusts. My pressure is lowest after taking (warfarin) and after a meal. I had 24 hr halter monitor last year and the doctor was not concerned so ……
My GP lowered the dose of my Candesartan.
make sure you not dehydrate. I was given some antibiotics that I turned out to have a allergic too my blood pressure was dropping crazy low then going really high causing me to constantly blackout when paramedics came out they were getting me to drink water to try and stabilise my blood pressure unfortunately for me that didn’t work and I spent 4days in hospital what happened to me was no nothing to do with my high blood pressure but it did make me more aware of my water intake I’ve upped my water intake I still get the odd dizziness but not as bad so try it is my advice.
I recently had same problem, Heart Failure Nurse adjusted my medication and that sorted it out. Perhaps speak to your GP to see if it could be your medication.
I was prescribed fludrocortisone to deal with mine (averaged 60/40) which has helped.
I was wondering that because what’s showing 100/110 that is hospital high. Surely!!
Lots of fluids, eat more salt, try tight fitting stockings,
There are meds which can increase BP Midodrine is one. In my expreience GPs have never heard of it or don't want to prescribe it.
I find moving around as much as you are able at least getting up every half hour having walk around house or do a bit of house work if able. Drinking water can help mines been low all my life
I am hoping this has been confirmed as being a low blood pressure issue! If not please seek medical advice for check up. If you have been checked but it’s some time ago then again, a check up may be required to see if things have changed. Also E nsure sure you’re properly hydrated, if you’re affected by rising from lying down in bed to sitting up or from chair to standing do this slowly & in stages. When you are then sat up or stood up wait to make sure you feel steady before moving off. If you are on medication you may need this reviewing by your GP. Hope you het sorted & fee better soon
Hello Smile. I can see that there's lots of useful information that has been posted for you, including revisiting your GP to have your meds checked.
My contribution is a reference to a book that I use concerning lifestyle/diet changes that are designed to help raise low BP.
"Revived!" by Dr. Dorothy Adamiak, ND.
I hope you find something among the many posts that works for you.
I agree, not to alarm you smile, as in a previous post i had high BP but ended up in hospital around Christmas due to dizziness, light headed and disoriented, caused me to blackout and fall which ended up with me having 8 stitches to head, rushed to hospital told me my bp had dropped to 80/60 and sodium levels was significantly low, was surprised and confused, hospital explained it was due to my bp meds i was taking, anyway they stopped my losartan and advised me if feel dizzy again like cavalier rubie said to sit for a bit, get out of bed slowly etc.. drink fluids (which i did do regularly every day before incident, drank 2 to 3 litres a day 🤔) and to eat something salty like packet of crisps but only problem was when i did feel dizzy and bp low and had something salty my bp shot up, can't win as bp now up and down at the moment 😒
As others suggest refer to GP (or 111 as appropriate) if BP gets too low or too high.
In my experience BP at both very high and very low levels will cause dizziness.
Have you checked your oxy level as well as your PB? Its just that if your BP goes low and the heart rate reduces sometimes your oxy rate will too, and that on it's own can cause dizziness (without any additional impact/s from heart meds etc). Only suggestions i've found to increase oxy levels is to move about and / or to increase fresh air intake (open a window / go outside). If oxy level drops to 90 or below call 111.
Best wishes.
Hope you get it sorted and im sure you will 🤗
Thanks Andy hopefully it will, im nearly there 🤗
Hello, I also suffer from low blood pressure which is partly due to low sodium. I take one or two Slow Sodium 600mg tablets a day. I would suggest you ask for a blood test to check your sodium levels if your doctor has not already done so. x
