morning all, has anyone experienced low blood pressure? I currently take amongst other things 2.5mg bisoprololin the morning & 2.5mg ramipril at night, I went to cardiac rehab yesterday and this morning my blood pressure is low at 101/65 pulse 54, I don’t feel too bad just a bit light headed.
As anyone else experienced this? I’ve also seen a lot of people mention cardiac nurses I haven’t been told if I have one! I had to contact the hospital myself to ask about the rehab!

You could discuss with your cardiac nurse on your next rehab, and in the meantime keep a record of your pressures at approx the same time each day. At least 90 minutes after a meal or major exercise, and in any case after a ten minute rest. Unless advised otherwise by a medical professional - which I am NOT.
I expect your medication could be lowered if you can demonstrate with consistent readings, say over four weeks, that your bp is too low (I did successfully) .
Yesc, I take 1.25mg bisoprolol and half a 1.25mg ramipiril ( aspirin, pantaprazole and Rosuvastatin) and my BP would sometimes drop to similar readings as yours , usually in the summer after sweating and working hard round my small holding. I mentioned it to my consultant and she wasn’t concerned, said to make sure I’m hydrated , try adding a little more salt back into my diet and consider stopping the bisoprolol if it carries on. I tried stopping bisoprolol but didn’t feel good without it.,it’s only 1.25mg and I feel good on it. My BP is now higher in winter 115/75 120/80
I'm also on 1.25mg to slow my pulse rate. My BP has averaged 95/62 for months but it was never high before the bisoprolol. I take my BP after my 5.3km, 4.30 am, 60 minute walk.
Hi, both Bisoprolol and Ramipril will reduce your blood pressure. If you are having other symptoms like dizziness, fainting etc you should speak to your GP about either reducing your dose or changing your meds.
I have naturally low blood pressure and I was on both these drugs although Ramipril only for about 14 months, so on these drugs mine was usually around 91/60 but could go as low as 75/43.
Sorry to hear that you had to chase them about your rehab. My father has postural hypotension and takes fludocortisone daily. He also has high resting blood pressure so takes Astrovastatin too, which logically seems not to be sensible but he needs both.
Keep asking until you get allocated a specialist cardiac nurse, mine's based at GP surgery. He adjusts my meds. I'm on bisoprolol and have low BP he's trying to keep it above 100/60 but about half the time it's lower than that. Oddly he doubled my bisoprolol ( betablocker) and my blood pressure improved! But that obviously wont happen for everyone, depends on your condition ( I have APS Shögrens and FMD). Do keep a daily record of your BP and symptoms to show your cardiac nurse (mine is better informed than GP), hope you get one soon.
I came off Bisoprolol on consultant's advice, a couple of years ago, after an episode of syncope. I seem to have natural low blood pressure. I'm still on Ramipril. I'm five and a half years on from a double bypass.
I actually passed out due to low blood pressure I am now keeping notes on blood pressure and GP keeping an eye on medication. Ramapril lowers blood pressure but has other important functions so not advised to stop GP is best person to contact
I have been having the same problem which I attribute to a combination of bisoprolol and losartan -light headed on getting up from lying down . Have stopped taking the Losartan pending a review. Problem has stopped & I feel much better.
I was initially on 2.5 mg bisoprolol and 2 mg perindporil. My BP was going pretty low, so bisoprolol was halved, still low, so as perindopril didn't cut very well, even with a pill cutter, that was stopped. Most of the time my BP stays about 127/78, but occasionally it has a run where it goes up and stays up, needing another period on perindopril to bring it down. After a while I then need to stop perindopril again. I always check with my GP.I would add that when my BP was going down to the 90s or below, and roughly 58 on diastolic I thought I felt okay but actually wasn't, so be aware of that.
When I was given bisopralol after a HA it dropped my BP and bpm so low I couldn't function- just sat in chair and slept all day. Doctor changed it to a calcium channel blocker but then decided I didn't need it at all.. Beta blockers and I just don't get on. Talk to your GP.
I had low blood pressure when I fainted. I used to take two BP meds (why???) so one was stopped. I’m in a choir — standing while singing brings this on.
I have been on BISOPROLOL and 2 other blood pressure meds since May last year. For the first few months ,my blood pressure was very low. It slowly returned to normal. I too felt light headed but only for the first few weeks.
ramipril is used to reduce high blood pressure and Bisoprolol is used to reduce heart rate. I take both but at 1.25 mg in the evening. When I was put on Bisoprolol my resting heart rate went from 70 to 60. You might be on too large a dose. You need to speak to the cardiac nurse at rehab or your GP about getting a lower dose.
Hi, I recently had low BP and asked for my meds to be reduced, I had to take readings twice a day for a week and then GP agreed that they were too low, perhaps you could do the same and then check with your GP.
Hi In October 2024 I was fitted with a dual chamber pacemaker as my heart rate which for some time due to sport was around 40 BPM then decreased to 19 BPM. After a month I was advised to take the medicine as you have been taking. My blood pressure dropped drastically and after speaking with my doctor he suggested I stopped taking them as they were also causing other issues. I stopped taking them and my heart pressure has returned to normal and my other stomach issues cleared up. Hope this helps but speak with your doctor.
Hi are u on bisoprolol for blood pressure or AF as this does seem to drop the bp as someone else said check your BP over 7 days am and pm then find the average read over the 14 readings ic too low I would speak to GP for advice
