I've been getting fed up of being indoors okay so I went to the doctors and food shopping the other day but I thought I feel up to going out and volunteering at my local parkrun.
I messaged the team and they said it will be okay and all the regular volunteers know about my health issues and will help me if needed. I packed a fold up chair just in case I needed it. I got a special mention at the briefing and an around of applause just for being back π
I sat on my chair at the finish line and waiting for the first few finishes and congratulated them as more came through I stood up and scanned them and had a chat with some. As the numbers went down I say back down and got chatting to a few of the finishers one of which had a heart attack 6 months ago (about the same time as my first one) and he was back running we compared stories and experiences. I'm not quite ready to run or walk 5k yet, but when I am I'm going to love every minute of it!

Brilliant Valentina π. You cannot beat getting out if you are able obviously. Just take things easy if you've been poorly and one day at a time and all that!! Good Luck. Love your Name by the way β€οΈ
sounds like getting out has done you the world of good and what better motivation to look forward and encourage you than someone elseβs success story π
You can and you will get back to running; one step at a time π€
Well done for doing what felt right for you and doing it sensibly ππ»
Getting out there has probably done you more good than anything else. Returning to some measure of normality helps both mentally and physically. Well done and if you can, look forward to the next time... and at some point actually participating. π
It sounds so lovely that you felt like getting back out today, and it sounds like everyone made you feel welcome and supported! Iβm really glad that you were able to enjoy the day.
Valentine ... how wonderful! I just read my echocardiogram report ... my EF is 25-30% ... and i have a slight leakage in my mitral valve... I tried a little gardening yesterday but couldn't/wouldn't do much. This not knowing what is safe and what is not safe has strong reverberations with my experience as an infant, toddler and childhood. I realized this after having a bit of a panic attack that was not related to my current reality, but a drop into "trauma mind" based on somatic memories from that time. Feeling a little safer today so I may try to garden again tomorrow. Today I'm attending an online yoga retreat about healing.
here's a link to the retreat ... i've spent time at this ashram and am very close to them ... they'be been a huge support through the wild ride of the last two weeks. eventbrite.ca/e/the-gift-of...
Well done Valentina98! It doesnβt do our spirits much good staying indoors, does it, though sometimes itβs necessary. I feel better for getting outside every day. Weβre down but not out!
