Hey Everyone

I've been getting fed up of being indoors okay so I went to the doctors and food shopping the other day but I thought I feel up to going out and volunteering at my local parkrun.

I messaged the team and they said it will be okay and all the regular volunteers know about my health issues and will help me if needed. I packed a fold up chair just in case I needed it. I got a special mention at the briefing and an around of applause just for being back 😁

I sat on my chair at the finish line and waiting for the first few finishes and congratulated them as more came through I stood up and scanned them and had a chat with some. As the numbers went down I say back down and got chatting to a few of the finishers one of which had a heart attack 6 months ago (about the same time as my first one) and he was back running we compared stories and experiences. I'm not quite ready to run or walk 5k yet, but when I am I'm going to love every minute of it!

Well done on getting out to volunteer at parkrun !That's good to hear 😊

As a runner why not consider joining us on the Couch to 5k forum

healthunlocked.com/couchto5k

Or the Bridge to 10k forum .

Or both !

As an Admin on both let me say you would be very welcome !

And good luck with your recovery πŸ™πŸ˜Š

I'm thinking of redoing my couch 25k so I might join if I do. I've volunteered for a while now (after my first HA) and I love it, we're a lovely bunch

Brilliant new V, and just think where you were only 10/7/5 days ago. Onwards and upwards (with a few plateaus in between).

Rest and enjoy the rest of your day.

sounds like getting out has done you the world of good and what better motivation to look forward and encourage you than someone else’s success story πŸ™‚

You can and you will get back to running; one step at a time πŸ€—

Well done for doing what felt right for you and doing it sensibly πŸ‘πŸ»

Getting out there has probably done you more good than anything else. Returning to some measure of normality helps both mentally and physically. Well done and if you can, look forward to the next time... and at some point actually participating. πŸ˜€

Well done for getting up and out, and doing something you enjoy. And good for taking the chair! What did your mum have to say :)

Valentine ... how wonderful! I just read my echocardiogram report ... my EF is 25-30% ... and i have a slight leakage in my mitral valve... I tried a little gardening yesterday but couldn't/wouldn't do much. This not knowing what is safe and what is not safe has strong reverberations with my experience as an infant, toddler and childhood. I realized this after having a bit of a panic attack that was not related to my current reality, but a drop into "trauma mind" based on somatic memories from that time. Feeling a little safer today so I may try to garden again tomorrow. Today I'm attending an online yoga retreat about healing.

Well done Valentina98! It doesn’t do our spirits much good staying indoors, does it, though sometimes it’s necessary. I feel better for getting outside every day. We’re down but not out!
