At the end of this month it will be 1 year since my triple bypass ! My breathing etc is no problem now I'm regularly walking in the forrest & have started back at the Gym Thinking of joining a walking football group ( tho id be tempted to break in to a run being an ex winger 😅) However there is one thing worrying me ( & of course my wife is even more worried ! ) Most days & it seems more regular not less I experience a clicking / popping feeling on my right side under/ near the ribs usually caused by movement such as getting up from lying or puting on a coat At other times i have heavy discomfort feelings in the middle of my chest which i accept as “ normal” but the clicking seams strange ( didnt have it till recently ) Anyone else experence this ?

Dear you,

I was told that the clicking { more popping with me } was normal and it was just the way the rib cage was opened during the op and the way it healed.

But there is nothing wrong with you getting it checked out if you have the slightest worry about this.

Glad that you came back to tell us how you are getting on, incredible that a year has passed.

Please send regards to your loverly wife, but NOT your football club ! LOL

Take care

I've had it explained to me as sinews snapping into place as they move across our re-profiled rib cages. The word "snapping" is perhaps a little alarmist, the actual mechanical action is actually very slight, but our chest cavity acts rather like a guitar's sound box, amplifying the sensation.

I was told it's nothing to worry about and even though it's come and gone over time it's now (nearly five years post op) very rare that I get these little events, and when I do it just serves as a welcome reminder of how extremely fortunate we are. So think of it as a "gratitude prod"!

Thanks That a great idea to call it a gratitude prod ! Im going to adopt that phase 😄

I still get the clicking and popping from time to time after doing to many press ups,so I wouldn't worry too much. With regards to walking football I tried it last year and kept getting sent off for running. Also I saw more injuries in that than any other sports I've played.
