Chest pain and clothing - any relevance?

I have suspected microvascular angina/dysfunction. I have a question for the ladies on here.. do any of you get chest pain when wearing a bra? I can't seen to tolerate anything around my chest regardless of how loose it is. It's the same with my waist area. Not sure if it has anything to do with the cardiac side of things but just thought I'd ask. Thanks.

hi I don’t think it does relate to cardiac but I agree I found it uncomfortable especially with shortness of hearth. The reason I think it is not cardiac and just discomfort is because I gave up wearing anything of that nature about at least a year but the angina chest tightness etc and pain is still here. I get abdominal pain too and especially tightness in a band across my body under my breasts on occasion. I hate tight clothes now which doesn’t present a problem as I stay in “day pyjamas” day in day out only dressing if need to go out which is not very often. Perhaps try going commando bra wise and wearing loose clothing to see if makes a difference and if not I’d talk to your doctor. But I have a different kind of non obstructive issue.

Hello,

Wearing a bra doesn't cause my chest pain due to vasospastic angina.

However when I have chest pain my bra feels too tight. I wear a soft sleeping bra which is more comfortable for me.

I’m the same, I can’t tolerate anything too tight around my chest.

My cardiologist has advised that I stop wearing a bra with metal under wiring.

However, previously to his suggestion, I stopped wearing the underwire bras altogether as I felt like it was causing my chest discomfort. I don’t think it was aggravating my cardiac symptoms, but it was making me feel uncomfortable. I have chest pain on a daily basis, so I prefer something less tight and constricting. I now use seamfree wireless bras and they are easily available online or in many clothing retailers on the high street.

Thanks everyone. I stopped wearing underwire a good while ago and I have also tried soft seamfree ones but I can't seem to find a bra band that is comfortable. I get chest pain regardless but I end up having to go without a bra a lot. Its not ideal and my quest to find something that can give support but not add to the chest discomfort continues! I think being a larger person also makes it hard to find something that will suit.

Yes I find all bras uncomfortable, wire free, front fastening, back fastening, no fastening, strapless, backless, seam free, stretch one size only and have a drawer full of the above. So I just let it all hang out and wear a thick tee shirt under my jumpers. Fortunately I dont have large breasts and am grateful I never had a boob job! I keep the drawer full in case I ever need to go to a wedding or posh occasion and always wear loose fitting clothes. But I would struggle in heels too and accept that comfort is everything at my time of life 70plus.

Yeah all the time even if it isn't tight so weird! 😕 Although the pain just stays there after anyway.

I hate wearing bras now and never do indoors, yes they hurt and for years I've not been able to bear anything around my waist. Always wear dresses now.

Why this is, well I really don't know so will look forward to the answers you get. It's a darned nuisance isn't it!!!

I brought this subject up on the AF forum years ago and had lots of replies from ladies who were the same.
