I stopped taking Ticagrelor after 12 months, and now I'm having strange headaches. Not painful more sharp and stabbing... Moving from the back of my neck to the top of my skull. I'm not worried about this, as apart from the above I feel great!
I'm just wondering if this is a kind of withdrawal from taking Ticagrelor

Sometimes people dismiss things by saying it cannot be because you have started or stopped a tablet as it is not known or listed as something that happens but we are all different so I do not feel you can say this could not be the cause
However I would speak with your Doctor to find out what is 100% causing them always best to ask them in case it is something else so I would make an appointment and hope you will let us know what they say and how you get on
On a positive I am so pleased you are feeling so good x
Talk to your GP or, if you are like me and can't get a non urgent appointment for the next six weeks, try 111 although you may have to wait some considerable time for a doctor to ring you back, or failing those, your local pharmacist.
Do let us know how you get on, both in terms of symptoms if they last or feedback/insight from the physicians. I'm due to stop my Ticagrelor shortly, ( 90mg twice a day currently) and have always been intrigued that there is a hard stop on the end of this medicine. I was told by my pharmacist when having meds review the evidence /gains supporting the taking of this drug were very much a Y1 thing - hence the hard stop with the negatives outweighing the gains in the longer term. Good luck - keep us posted!
That is interesting. My Consultant has moved me from 90mg after year one to 60mg for year two, then at the end of year two I will be moved onto 30mg for year three, at the end of that the plan is stop the Ticagrelor.
Yes - what you describe is what I was expecting - gradual tapering of the dosage instead of a hard stop. I imagine it comes down to individual clinicians interpretations of available data and real life experience. How far along the journey are you? Y1/Y2? Anyone else out there on Ticagrelor beyond a year?
