Hey everyone

I have a little win (yes I listen to radio 2) I'd like to share.

Today at 11:30am I got dressed, I'm proper clothes not just my night clothes for the first time in 6 days It did wear me out mind you, but still I'm taking it.

What's your little win for the day?

Every win is a win V, no matter how big or small, well done you and I bet you feel a whole lot better for being in proper clothes 👏👏👏

I almost feel human

A great feeling isn't it, onwards and upwards kiddo 👍

Isn't "human" a step down from "unstoppable superbeing of myths and legends"? 😛

Two steps down from being World King.

Hello :-)

Good for you !

I would take that to , little steps you are going to soon be doing more :-) x

Good for you, and that's not a little win. It's really easy to get into the "no point in..." groove and really hard to get out of it once you are!

My little win today was really smashing my PBs on Strava at this morning's parkrun.

Ok, they were thanks to dodgy GPS that measured the 5k course as 6.85km and had me swimming the first 2k across the Menai Straits (it was raining but not THAT wet!!!).

But I'm claiming them anyway 😁

Alleged personal best runs thanks to faulty GPS

Well Done and Thanks

I missed seeing everyone at my local parkrun this morning. Strava 's great isn't it... It once had me doing a 10k parkrun with a time of 47:37. It was definitely just a normal parkrun. 😅

😁 that's quite a run!

I've just used this as an excuse to order the watch upgrade I've been eyeing the past couple of months. Obviously a permanent fault with this one rather than some random GPS error.

Or so I'll tell the bank manager 😳

I brought a refurbished Garmin forerunner music 245 a couple of months ago (it was more like 6 months ago) on Amazon not quite the same guarantee as a new one, but looks and works like new. Plus about a £100 cheaper.

I've gone Huawei again but newer model so I can link my Polar strap to it. I like the fact they style them as "normal" watches rather than "sports"

I would never part with that watch if I had it. My best effort is 2kl in 16 minutes at the moment on my apple watch!! sure its running slower than myself at the moment.

I'll be keeping it - apart from anything else, would feel bad offloading a fitness watch onto someone if it's starting to give unreliable data.

It likely isn't the watch's fault in this case but it's a good excuse for an upgrade 😎

My win was making a whole packet of Tunnocks Wafers disappear then building a model of the Pyramids with the shiny gold wrappers.

Valentina98 profile image
Valentina98 in reply to Blue1958

Nice.... I'm not allowed to eat Tunnocks at the moment Mums got me on a strict diet. As soon as I can escape I'm buying chocolate 😂🤣

Don't try Pure Heavenly chocolates! I saw an ad and got a trial box. They are Dairy free, Gluten free, Palm oil free, Soya free, under 1% sugar and totally taste free!

They sound taste free.... I'll certainly avoid them.

My little win was laying 1/3rd of the wood floor in the bedroom, would normally have done it all in a day but I now take a break before I feel tired. On the plus side I got to drink more tea :D

Always a bonus... Tea 👍

Brilliant and well done.

I am not sure the term 'little win' is appropriate to you, whilst what you have ACHIEVED may seem a 'little win' to you and many, to me and you in particular this is a 'big win' particularly mentally.

So yes, I am so pleased this made you feel good and able to celebrate.

What's your next challenge?

Valentina98 profile image
Valentina98 in reply to uzininemm

I'm not sure, maybe not go back to bed during the day today. I do want to pop to the shops but that's a 5 minute walk and I'm not sure I'll do that yet.

I am still recovering from open heart surgery 10 weeks ago. Every night before going to sleep I set myself a little task for the next day, something realistic & achievable but not vital if I can't manage it. It's a great feeling when you manage it, however small it may be. You are progressing so well after what you have been through x

Valentina98 profile image
Valentina98 in reply to Cat04

It doesn't feel like it, but thank you.

I might borrow that idea of setting myself a little tasks each day.

I did exactly the same Cat when I got home from hospital four days after a triple bypass in February last year. It really, really helped when I managed to perform a little daily task during that first couple of weeks - even walking down the garden to feed the birdies that first morning - it's a sense of pride like no other!

I would definitely try Cat's idea, Valentina - and you really are doing very, very well already! Carol x

Good Morning

That’s brilliant that you managed to get dressed yesterday and could get the more ‘normal life’ feeling from it.

I hope you have a reportable little win today. Xx

Ps Enjoy/go with your Mum’s health food too , it’s great she’s fighting your corner for you and trying to help get you restored.

Well done. It is surprising how much better you feel in proper clothes! When I had the dreaded virus in April 2020 and eventually came home from hospital I made a daily chart/plan/diary for small steps of improvement. It gave me something to visibly see :)

That is a big win, considering what you've been through! Really good to note each one, so you can see that you're making progress. But if you have a day when you don't get a win, that's ok too. Each day is different and most important thing is to be kind to yourself 🤗

Good morning all, I fell awkwardly on Wednesday and managed to break a bone underneath the outside edge of my foot, if there is any unusual injuries or medical issues I get them, after a visit to a&e and fitted with a lovely boot home we went. My win for the week was having a shower when only able to stand on one foot even with a seat it was a challenge, I felt like I had climbed Ben Nevis by the time I had finished and dreading the repeat performance 😱char

V, I’ve said on these pages before that the best policy is to ensure that we ‘live with’ whatever our condition is rather than ‘suffer from’ it! Our condition cannot be allowed to define us. We each happen to be someone who has (in my case HF). We should always present an image of normality to the world. Showering and dressing in our normal day clothes every day is essential . The minute that we change our normal routine because of our condition, we have handed over control of our lives to our condition. Our individual conditions place enough restrictions on us with out taking over our lives.
