Pheasant teasing Maggie my little dog of 12 inches, guess who did not win.
This make followers laugh. Wear false teeth, but this morning the bottoms, they started to crack, rang my dentist thinking this is a emergency, I explain what was happening, to be ask do you have tooth ache, I said with false teeth, so my next question is, I need my teeth fixed, to be told its not emergency, I explain that I can't eat without teeth, the person said we reopen in may. So I'm on my own.
Well, I'll be fine - I have spent my life being traumatised by even the thought of a dental appointment.... I am sure I could define myself as a trauma case all the time!
You have to know what it is like to suffer the unremitting terror of the dentist to fully understand it. I don't sleep the night before.......... can;t eat breakfast, fantasise extreme happenings on the way there (escaped lion from the zoo for example) so I have to turn around and go home with a legitimate excuse..... and for over fifty years I only had two fantastic dentists who were kindness itself. Unfortunately the last one retired three years ago and since then I have had to brace myself for getting to know two new ones. No one seems to stay long term any more. I keep reminding myself I am a grown up and can quell the terror. Sad to say it doesn't work......
I'm so pleased I'm not the only one, including imagining impossible scenarios that would stop me attending. And my dentist is really lovely, but oh my just the thought of it! 😱
Sorry to hear about your denture. Suggest you try your local chemist, they should have dental repair kits where you can glue them to make a temporary repair until your dentist reopens. If no joy with chemist - try Amazon
This happened to my sister when she came to stay - she actually cannot eat without them - we Googled Dental Laboratory and the town and then rang around explaining the problem. One totally lovely man said to get to him and he would fix her dentures. We drove, he took them from her and said go away for two hours. We did ( with her hiding in a huge scarf) and we went back and they were beautifully repaired. Reasonable cost. Few dentists make and repair dentures on site so you may be able to get an address from your local practice and go to it. Otherwise if there is a dental hospital in your town a visit there could help. Or ring them up and explain the situation. Do not try and carry on for weeks - if all else fails ring 111 and ask for help. Good luck - my sister lost most of her teeth as a teenager because a dentist introduced a horrendous infection in her mouth through use of dirty instruments. In our youth I have helped her hold loose teeth on the denture in with chewing gum, Araldite, have seen her mouth packed with cotton wool and the result of ill fitting dentures. You have to be persistent but you can find people to help in this situation but can you speak to your dentist? He should be able to organise help for you. Good luck.
Huge issue around PPE for dentists. There is none available which is why we’ve all had to close. Even the Urgent Dental Care hubs are not up and running. The labs, all privately owned, are also shut due to the risk to their health. Two days ago, the govt minister for housing said that PPE had been delivered to dental practices. None in London and none to our friends around Manchester.
Call your dentist and they will be able to advise you, remotely prescribe for you and hopefully get you seen in a medical dental emergency. We are in lifesaving mode, but this is really hard on patients & dentists alike.
Cracked dentures are tricky to fix as it needs acrylic.
And yes you can repair a “tooth off” with super glue. The difficulty is if the super glue repair is poor, then you can be left with no denture at all rather than one with a missing tooth.
You could see if any denture technicians are open. If they are, ask about their infection prevention procedures....
