I'm aware this probably isn't heart related but just incase it is does anybody else feel like this. I think it's gas most of time but my stomach is always bloated been noticing this for about a month now and ( I've already had my time of the month for any female hearties reading this) 😅😉, any advice on what I should do to stop this???

hi I have had it occasionally so I now what you mean but I’ve put mine down to digestion related rather than heart. Not saying I’m right though. Have you noticed a pattern regards particular foods you eat or pattern regards time of day / quantity of food?

I’ve stopped having “proper” meals in evening and tend to have something light like toast or cereal / porridge with some fruit notwithstanding have little energy in evening anyway.

I also tend to eat an orange (satsuma/ clementine) as that seems to help but don’t know why. Helps me burp. Sorry TMI.

Following with interest 😊

Yeah it's first thing in the morning and last thing at night and occasionally during the day. How would I know if it was heart related??.

If you could rule out digestive related issues by looking at diet then maybe best to see doctor if not resolving?

I get abdominal pain same time as angina on occasion but goes when rest - that’s when I suspect it’s heart related but I tend to focus on the chest / sob / fatigue as heart related. But bloating I get from sitting for long periods and depending on what eat and when.

In addition to what everyone else has said, it might be a good idea to monitor your bowel movements and see if there’s been any changes in those too. I know that constipation can cause bloating.

Hope you feel better soon!

Yeah ok. I know one of the side effects from verapamil is constipation but this bloating has only been affecting me for bout a month. And it's gone down alot but it hurts now and hurts to touch my stomach.

Sounds like a possible telephone call to your GP to investigate what’s going on. Certain foods can also cause bloating. I wonder if you would benefit from a gastroscopy to rule out ulcers and any other gastrointestinal issues.

Hello :-)

I suffer with a bloated stomach that sometimes is flat the next minute it is bloated but mine is down to IBS which I have suffered from for years

The suggestions about constipation could be neds you are taking and you could have IBS but see your Doctor so they can tell you what is the cause

Let us know how you get on :-) x

My husband suffers with this another. He had a HA and now has HF. It comes and goes but is with him most of the time. His doctors are aware but don't seem worried about it.

Dear You

If these symptoms are not the norm for you then you should get them checked out.

Without a doubt it could be a side effect from you heart medication { most list it } especially if you have done nothing different to your diet { good or bad }

Its a downer when things don't feel right, try and get it sorted before it turns into that.

Good luck and please don't be palmed off with another load of tablets under the IBS label.

Take care

I'm beginning to think it isn't a big deal it's only bloated first thing in the morning and last thing at night and it swells when I need the toilet which is normal so probably waist of time going to the GP.

Please don't think it a waste of time seeing your GP. There is the possibility that it is, at least in part, heart related or due to some other very serious condition that definitely needs checking out, and hopefully eliminating, by examination/ blood test.

Hi Yumz, I can see by your profile that you've had a lot to put up with and that you are a carer to boot. Please put yourself first and make that appointment. Although you are young, you say you are losing weight which could also be a symptom of a number of conditions. Even if your symptoms are due to being ' backed up' they have clearly reached the point where you need qualified medical advice. Please excuse my preachy tone, but I have had experience of seeing a doctor for a similar, though not identical, issue and it was taken very seriously. I am amazed at how many potential conditions I've been tested for. Of course I am considerably older than you and likely to have higher risks, but I suffered for 3 months before seeking help because the symptoms it seemed trivial compared to my heart and circulation problems. Do let me know how you get on and my best wishes that you find relief from your symptoms soon.

I will go I just know that will be the one day my stomach won't be bloated I don't know what it could mean if they can even do anything is it possible could a water infection so you think they can make your belly bloat and hurt right. I honestly have no idea if this is just normal for everyone or something is a bit off like I said a side effect from verapamil is constipation so maybe I am just suffering a long term effect from this medication.

Pleased to hear you will go. Even if you don't have the bloating that day you will still be able to describe the unpleasant symptoms . Good luck.

I'm glad to hear you feel better after that incident, and hopefully the bloating is over, but please if it does return, or you get more episodes of pain/ sudden diarrhea do go to your GP. Hoping for the best for you in the future:)
