Extreme tiredness

I have seen from other posts that bisoprolol and dapagliflozin can cause tiredness. I am on both and frankly I feel as if I am dragging myself around and can fall asleep as soon as I sit down. This is no way to live and am now suspecting that these two meds are a contributing factor. I have tried to contact the heart failure nurse but she has not replied. If any of you have experience of both dapa and bisoprolol together I would be pleased to hear from you. Any answers appreciated!!

I had a lot of tiredness when I started Bisoprolol I had to have a sleep most afternoons, but it has now settled and I no longer have that problem.

Hello there. I am on both. have been on that beta blocker on a low dose of 3.25mg for 3 years now. During this time i havent really noticed much difference. The tiredness could be down to HF itself or this med...

BUT when i started Dapa, my gosh i have never felt sleepiness like it since I accidently ate a space cake. I was out on my feet the first week or so, but then its started to ease slightly. It does however help me get a better nights sleep but yes at times during the day i could nod off, literally stood up.

I have heard beta blockers do have this affect too especially on higher doses. Its a tricky one, really is. Sometimes i think the only symptoms i get from my condition are from the side effects from the meds treating it!

I do however split the beat blocker in half and take half morning, half evening, same with the entresto. Seems to help with the entresto, not as intense

I've been on 3.25 Biso for 15yrs and Dapa for 6 months and tbh cant say i've noticed any tiredness from either. Other side effects from Dapa but not that, maybe because I was a gym freak for years before hand.

I have been on both but my experience would be more tiredness from Bisoprol rather than Dapa. Maybe see if you can take the medication at night time my meds have been changed for the same reason to evening or even half the dose. Good luck keep calling heart failure nurse.

Thanks for your reply. I shall try taking bisoprolol at night and see if this makes a difference. And hassle hf nurse!!

I was on 1.25mg Bisoprolol and possibly Dapa after my HA in November. I say might be with Dapa as I was signed up for a trial with it so there's a 50% chance I'm on a placebo. After being very tired and struggling with a low heart rate the Bisoprolol was stopped around two weeks ago. I'm much brighter now but still have some days when the tiredness comes back, perhaps I'm now adjusting to the change in medication, my atorvastin was reduced to 40mg as well.I know it's not easy but you need to persevere with getting some professional medical advice about this. Good luck

hi, I’m on 10mg dapagliflozin and 2.5mg bisoprolol each morning. Then 5mg bisoprolol at night. I haven’t experienced the tiredness you speak of although I’m known to doze on an evening after work.

Persevere with your cardiac nurse to get sorted. Have your bloods been checked and your blood pressure?

Take care

When I was taking bisoprolol I was having to have an afternoon nap which I had never done before. My cardiologist suggested moving it to the evening and that worked wonders.

Hi Milopal I have paroxymal A Fib and only take blood thinners to manage the condition. Beta Blockers make me very tired too and prone to fainting. Medication such as fleccanide has no effect and I am on the list to have an ablation. I suffer from chronic fatigue and I am hoping the ablation will help cure this but there are no guarantees. I sympathise with your tiredness problems and hope you find something to increase your energy.Best of luck. x

Thanks Hilianna. It's been suggested that I take bisoprolol at night and also that I have bloods checked and blood pressure too. Work needed to chase all this up. However I don't know what paroxysmal A fib is (the paroxysmal bit is what I haven't come across) but taking blood thinners sounds scary. My blood clotting is slow since my brush with leukaemia - now in remission thankfully - so I wouldn't want to have to cope with taking thinners. Sounds like you have a lot to cope with a great deal too and I hope you hear about ablation appointment soon. Good luck to you too.
