Sudden extreme tiredness

Hello, I have coronary heart disease and had a stent fitted nearly 4 years ago. I take lots of medication and most of the time I am well.

But at times a get these sudden extreme tiredness, it comes on very quickly, within minutes. Sometimes when I do nothing much or other times when active. It happened last night. I made a pot of tea and a sandwich and it was an effort to do that I also felt a bit shaky. After 45 minutes it just went away, sometimes it last for up to 2 hours. Does anyone else have any experience of this, is it normal? Last time I saw the cardiologist I mentioned this and some other symtems and said it sounded like micro vascular angina and he said, yes that is right you have that as well, I have not had any test for it.

Microvascular angina can be tricky to both diagnose and treat. Are you on any any anti-anginals like isosorbide mononitrate or diltiazem hydrochloride? These work in the background to prevent angina rather than treating the symptoms when they occur, like a GTN spray.

Yes I take isosorbrite mono nitrate as well as ramipril, clopidogrel, bisiprorol, and statins. It does not happen often less than once a week. I do make a note of it now, so I have details if I go back to the GP. I am trying to read up about it but have not found much yet.

i’m on both of these medications.. plus ivabradine..cardiologist diagnosed me with MVA.. sometimes feel so tired at times i just need to go to bed and rest.. never mentioned it to cardiologist or gp

I had a read at some other post last night, some very helpful. Found one I posted this time last year with the same problem. Because I have been so well had forgotten about that. Realise now it happens more in the colder months and when I do less exercise. And in May I had the isosobrite mononitrate medication doubled, it seems to work well most of the time.

That is something I have not thought of. I just think it is so strange how it comes on so quickly and goes again.

Sounds very similar to my problem - so bad sometimes I have to go to A&E - never heard of "micro vascular angina" but will look into it.

Hi, I had one of my medications increased by the pharmacist, bisiprolol and it has been lots better since. He is employed by the medical centre, the GP I saw said he did not think it was angina related. Had an ECG and blood tests they came back ok so that is why I saw the pharmacist. I now have access to my medical records online and found a letter from the cardiologist there was no mention of micro vascular angina at all, makes me think he said it to humour me.

It is difficult if the medical people do not think it is angina related when to me it looks like it must be.
