Chest Pains and Tiredness

Hi all,

I’m new to this blog and am delighted to see I’m in good company. I’m 56 and had a heart attack about 8 weeks ago.

My recovery had been going well but last week I started experiencing severe chest pains again and was hospitalised for tests and released the same day. Despite being told everything except low heart rate appears normal, I feel dreadful, I have constant uncomfortable aching/ pains in my chest and am always tired. My GP has taken me off Bisoprolol to see if that increases my heart rate and improves things.

Has anyone experienced a similar setback?

What worked for you?

Thanks for any help/insights you can provide.

Hi and welcome to the Forum. Some here are very lucky(!) and they get the management of your heart problems just right, from the first. If not, it can take a bit longer to sort out just the right balance of stents drugs etc. for you.

Be patient, there might be a little more balancing to do.

Some of us get very sensitive to any little symptoms, after the first heart event. And that extra vigilance is completely understandable.

Did you have any stents?

Hi thanks, I had two stents fitted in the same artery. Since coming off the Bisoprolol I have been feeling so much better. Maybe it was because of the low heart rate after all!

It takes time for your meds to get sorted. A lot of us have had problems with Bisoprilol. Search on the tag to see. Insist on talking to your cardiologist.

I would agree, here, I am assuming they fitted a stent or stents, I was the same, went back in over the first 3 months 3 times as I thought any pain was another heart attack, this is not to say you should not be careful on case it is an issue, but stents are in most very very successful, that what I kept telling myself (and still do 14 months later) even what was small pain was a major incident, I think that's normal for all of us here, I was taught about moving my body to see if it was a muscular pain and until the meds are found to be right for you, some do cause chest discomfort, (the one thing we could do without for a heart drug!!) I was told in a polite way, that I would really know if it was a real problem. ot sure that's helped but we have all had the pains post stents if that was the procedure but also do not ignore it all, if it really is a concern, A&E is the best place to head.

I am 59 and had H.A and stent procedure 12 weeks ago,I felt great for 2 to 3 weeks afterwards, but like started feeling chest pains and very tired,my G.P reduced my B.P.meds but I have good days and not so good days. Personally I put it down to the cocktail of medication I'm on since H.A and waiting for my body to adapt to all the changes, so I try to remain calm, and do my best to look after myself. Good luck and take care !!!
