Bisoprolol withdrawl after only 3 weeks

I have been taking Bisoprolol 1.25mg for 2 weeks, I stopped after 2 weeks and felt fine for 3 days and then I woke up around 2:20am with a HR of 125bpm. This continued for 3 more hours and eventually subsided. I decided to bite a tablet in half and take that and things seemed to settle for a bit but my RHR seemed to sit around 85-95bpm.

I have since read about bisoprolol withdrawl and have been taking 1/4 tablet for the last 3 days and at times my RHR and active HR return to normal. I’m wondering if I just stop now, might I be lucky enough not to endure the lengthy process I have heard about - or am I likely now along for a drawn out ride?

The background for me taking them is 14 months ago I had tachycardia that seemed to be down to a combination of long covid, nasal decongestant and nicotine pouches. SDEC prescribed me with the beta blockers but we’re happy for me to stop them when my echo and 72hr monitor seemed ok. I do not remember having withdrawl but I did taper the dosage doing 1/2 a tablet for 5 days and then 1/4 for 5 days. I do remember feeling rotten on them however.

My trigger this time was quitting nicotine 5-6 weeks ago cold turkey (using nicotine pouches for 6-7hrs a day) and then going on a day drinking event 4 weeks ago and having far too much whilst taking nicotine pouches again. My RHR the day after was 100bpm (usually 55-60) and then the day after that I had either a panic/anxiety attack or some kind of SVT that shot my RHR up to 170bpm which prompted a visit to a&e but bloods and ecg came back as normal. Then 2 days later the same thing happened again and I mentioned having some beta blockers left to the a&e doctor and he said he didn’t think I needed them but to take them if it helped me feel better. Wel they didnt, I felt rotten so stopped them and now I’m having these surges of 90-125bpm “attacks” 2-3 times a day (usually in the morning and at night and feeling really tired all the time. I wish I never took them and looked into the side effects. I’m 35, long covid aside I’m fairly fit and active so don’t really want to end up in a pit if I can help it!!

I have been to my GP and he scoffed at the idea of me having withdrawl from such a low dose and short duration, but I’m no hypochondriac and know my body and can sure as hell say that 3 weeks ago I did not feel like this, so it’s either nicotine withdrawl (5 weeks clean now) Bisoprolol withdrawal.. or both 🙄
