Bisoprolol lowest dose

Hello. Sorry for another beta blocker question but it's all new to me. I have been on bisoprolol 1.25 since 1st May and my HR drops to 48/49 overnight, according to my Fitbit. My Fitbit says my resting HR is currently 56. Does that sound ok to people? Also wondering if anyone takes less than 1.25 daily. I was put on a beta blocker for a high heart rate Originally then taken off propanalol by a GP and suffered terribly with withdrawal and palpitations so switched to bisoprolol by a cardiologist. I'm not seeing cardiologist for another two weeks. X

My EP told me that unless I feel faint there is nothing wrong with resting heartbeat of 48 (which I had in the morning on 2.5mg). Just dropped it to 1.25mg and all ok but haven’t checked pulse as of yet.

Hi Molly

Just checked mine and it's at 60, sometimes it's 40 The lowest recorded whilst sleeping was 22 bpm and Heart Failure Cardiologist said to reduce Bisoprolol from 10mg to 7.5mg. Intervention Cardiologist said to put it back to 10mg until Stress MRI next month, I do manage pretty well on the 10mg just the occasional blip !!! My low of 22 was recorded at 0527 this was with a Holter Recorder not a fit bit. In the time it has taken me to type this it has fallen to 52 as I am experiencing Ectopic Beats which do alter your heart rate quite a bit. Hope that helps a little I do believe that as long as it's not causing you problems no need to worry about it , but I am not an expert only know what I have picked up on the journey.

best regards

I reduced to half a tablet after feeling very light headed first thing in the morning. Bought a tablet cutter on Ebay for about 2 quid to do this

I’ve had mine reduced to half of a 1.25 tablet a day as my resting rate was around 40. I do wonder if that dose is too low though. Feel ok, just a bit tired at times.

I’ve been on 1.25mg since Feb and had some initial dizziness but moved my ramipril dose to the evening so they don’t peak at the same time. Resting HR about 55 now, bp 110/70. Hadn’t experienced cold hands/feet until this week - we’re camping and everyone else is fine but I’m wearing thick socks and a woolly hat in bed. 🤪

I am also on same dose for rapid heartbeat, palpitations and ectopic beats. my heart rate has settled but palpitations and ectopic beats still occurs although no so severe as it used to be. My resting heart rate during night sleep are between 40-60 bpm as shown on Samsung Galaxy watch and I don't feel anything unusual with it.

My pulse rate is always low now due to my medication. It can often be 40

That’s interesting. I was on 1.25mg of Bisoprolol. I kept blacking out. Visited GP. He didn’t want to alter anything that cardiologist had prescribed, but arranged urgent appointment for me. This was 15 days later. Went home. Started chopping some onions… came around in A&E. I must have lost consciousness, dropped the knife into my foot, etc etc. Thankfully my husband got home from work and found me in the kitchen. The cardiologist stopped the Bisoprolol!! I now have a small scar on my foot, but thankfully no real damage.
