hi folks
I play the saxophone in a wind band, which can make me puff a bit when we play the busy pieces.
Any reason why having a pacemaker fitted might affect my ability to play? I guess it won’t help with my duff notes mind.

Dear Barre01
A warm welcome to you and your first post { of many I hope } an interesting one for your first question.
I have a Pacemaker fitted and I must be honest it didn't affect my breathing in anyway { I wish it had as Im still as out of breath as I was before the fitting }
You will need time to recover and they are quite particular to what you can and can't do during that recovery period.
I would doubt that you can swing your instrument around { as I have seen saxophone players do } but as for the breathing it really should not affect you.
There is pain around the wound site as you would expect, so movement is limited but can easily be controlled with painkillers.
I think it will come down to 'if you feel up to it' more than anything else, but please give yourself time to not only recover but get used to this amazing unit being apart of you.
Take care and please keep us informed of your journey.

Softer reed which takes less air? Look at another mouthpiece with a smaller tip opening? Alto for tenor? Circular breathing 😲
Whatever you do don't stop playing.
