Hi Dolly, I had my pacemaker fitted a year ago I felt very vulnerable at the time. I’ve reached a stage of not thinking about it every day now. We’re actually on holiday this week in Madeira, it’s airports that worry me but patting my chest seemed to work as a signal for them to come forward and quickly explain, I was then put in the body scanner in Edinburgh. I’m fifty this week. How are you feeling now I remember being so careful with not raising my left arm. You’ll be ok just give yourself time to adjust. My thing was those that said it was only a pacemaker 😣 take care. Jen 🌷

I’ve had a pacemaker for 10 years. At first it felt strange- especially when I lay on my side in bed and it crept up under my chin😃. I soon learned to live with it and forgot it was there most of the time. The annual pacing check proved it was doing its job though.

Hi Dolly 're not lifting the arm .... I found making a scarf into a sling and keeping my arm in the sling when I am doing stuff helps make sure I don't use it. Then when sitting at rest I take arm out of sling to allow some movement. And its only for a short time 😁.

The pacemaker will be a great protector and although healing pains initially.... once they have gone then a lot of the time you won't even notice it's there. X

Thanks. I just brought a stainless steel necklace medical alert band. After wearing for few minutes I removed it. Is it going to interfere with my pacemaker. Could you please reply.

I had my pacemaker inserted on 18th April and had a check on 22nd and told me everything is ok. The wound is healed well and I am used to it. No pain also. I brought this locket as medical band to wear. I am thinking whether it will interfere with my pacemaker. It was told the type I have does not interfere with MRI scan and it is safe. If anyone could reply I will be very thankful to you.

Thanks

Dolly

Well done! It’s all over. Now make friends with your pacemaker 😃I’ve worn a Medic Alert bracelet for ten years - no problems, just very reassuring. All the best to you.

looks like I made a mistake lifting my left arm to high...looks like the wire has come out somewhere..had pacemaker fitted jan 4th ..everything seemed to work ok..but an alert ( got latitude alert system) to go to hospital..due back in on the 18th may to have the procedure again... thing is you think everything is ok and get on with normal life..then something else happens because of your feeling great... need to learn to be more careful and not raise arm above shoulder height..lesson learned.

I had to have another pacemaker fitted only a week after due to the leads coming out and I never even moved my arm at all
