Ramipril and itching?

Hey Everyone

I had a doctor's appointment today and they increased my ramipril.

I took it a couple of hours ago and since then I've been itching. Anyone know if this is common.

Also can't sleep but I don't think that's connected

Thanks

Valentina x

hello

This might help which says a skin rash is a common side effect and to speak to doctor / pharmacist?

Hi. Lots of medication can cause rashes/itching. I started on spironolactone and it was torture! I was ok when I stopped it. I take ramipril and my dose is unchanged but a short while ago I started with rashes all over again. I scratch, it bleeds, it heals and re-itches. I find Eurax very helpful. It stops the itch quickly. We have moved to non-biological washing detergent in case that was the cause of this episode.

I also don’t sleep at all well. An hour here and an hour or two there but I blame the fact that I am on oxygen and the nasal delivery system is not comfortable and falls out when I turn over etc!

Hope you get relief soon. X

Give the medication a few weeks and see if it settles down unless it gets unbearable and to much for you before then

I read a few of you posts and sorry that you are no longer with your Boyfriend that could be affecting your sleep as well as you feeling the tablets are

Hope it resolves itself :-) x

I got a rash when taking lisinopril. However it has since gone. And it was during the summer so may have been tablets or heat rash. But I took a photo and sent it to the doctor. I did take anti histamine tablets. But you can get skin rashes from these types of tablets. But worth telling the doctor or pharmacist.

I was on ramapril and it drove me crazy. Doctor changed it to candesartan. Ask your doctor for an alternative.

I've been on Ramipril 5mg twice a day since my HA 18 months ago, I originally put the rash and itching down to some of the other meds I was taking originally but having stopped all of them apart from the Ramipril, Statins and Asprin the itching is still there and quite annoying, so it must be the Ramipril, also I only use Fairy non-bio in case that was the cause.

I'm the same but had the itching occasionally before going on to the Ramipril, Spironolactone and others. So I don't know if it is linked or not.
