I have been on ramipril since HA 2 years ago two weeks ago while driving my eyes became blurry had tunnel vision and luckily as had slowed right down and put on hazards car went across road and scraped a pole. Had police and ambulance taken to hospital thankfully no one else was involved.Had to monitor blood pressure for a week and now stopped ramipril. I have informed DVLA Has this happened to anyone else The event has left me feeling anxious but so grateful as it could have been much worse if I was travelling at speed.

Ramipril
Whilst the symptoms you describe could be attributed to a sudden drop in blood pressure there are potentially other causes. Did the hospital do, or arrange, a field-of-vision test, a retinal scan a CT or MRI brain scan and a check of your ears?
None of the above just blood tests and x-rays they didn't advise an opticians appointment.
I’ve been on ramipril for years and not had this . Maybe you need to get checked out by go and optician to rule out any other causes . Hope you get it sorted
Are you on any other medicines.
I've been on ramipril for three years now and I am always interested in any side effects people report. I don't "think" I have any!
My situation is different because I have been a type 1 diabetic for 50 years and a blood cancer patient "without treatment" for 10.
I have have had vision problems on occasion and sometimes put this down to the diabetes but more recently it was cataracts.
This isn't really an answer for you but I would urgently encourage you to see an Optician. Glaucoma and cataracts can be a real problem for people of our age and an eye test might eliminate some of the possibilities.
Good luck!
Sorry to hear about this, must've been very scary. But I don't understand why you think Ramipril has caused this? It could be numerous things and you say you've been on Ramipril for 2 years with just this one event - or have there been others? Has anyone medically qualified suggested that Ramipril is the cause?
The leaflet with my Ramipril says that blurred vision is "uncommon", with less than 1 in 100 people being affected.
Haven’t had what you describe but started to get periods where I’d feel like I was going to pass out - I’d had Ramipril increased to 7.5mg to help with kidneys but suspect that after I had ablation, my blood pressure improved and the dose was too much and bringing my BP down too low- stopped the Ramipril and it went, started it again and came back - now taking 2.5mg which seems to be keeping BP Ok and no instances of feeling like passing out since - keep a close eye on your BP for a while but check with GP to make sure you’re OK being off the Ramipril - scary stuff and hope you get yourself sorted
I was dizzy while driving so dvla advised me to stop driving, so thats what I did. I sent my driving licence back
