Hello, I take my 1.25 mg ramipril in the evening so it's possible but I would check with your doctors first because there might be a good reason for taking it in the morning and also because of any other medicines you might be taking.
Like yourself I am also on the Ramipril, I take 1.25 in the morning and 2.5 at night { building back up to 10mg a day split 5 morning/ 5 evening }
At the start of my journey I also felt the force of Ramipril but was lucky that after a week or so that force settled down.
Like you, mine is prescribed for the heart and nothing to do with blood pressure.
You will read that many on here never get on with Ramipril but there are other drugs available.
Don’t worry if your team ask you to try it for a little longer to see if the side effects diminish, they may or may not but reading other posts on here, it is rare that the side effects get any worse.
As for the morning or evening taking, only your team can help you, they will gladly tell you why they want you to dose in the morning.
I hope your answers are found for you, good luck with your continuing journey.
Hi Carolx, I’m also new to ramipril. Day 14 now and I take mine in the evening but that’s because my bp spikes badly in the mornings. What I have to say is that the side effects I experienced early on have seemed to settle down so maybe give it a little more time and if things don’t settle down maybe ask your doctor if you could swap to a night night time regime
Hi Carolx, Really hope things settle for you with your new timings.
Just a quick question... are you NHS or Private for your Cardiologist? How did you get to have email contact with them? This provision sounds wonderful!!
Wow! That's amazing. Did you ask for it or did she just offer? Just wondering if this is a normal occurrence these days and if we ought to ask the Cardiologist at our hospital for his email, or if you just have one of the nicest ones in the country lol x
She offered her email address. My previous cardiologist moved to a different hospital, but did the same.
He was more than happy for me to contact him. He even gave me his private mobile number and said I could contact him any time, even though he is no longer my cardiologist.
I guess I’m very lucky.
It’s worth a try asking for your cardiologists email address.
I was prescribed Ramipril for my heart, not blood pressure and was told not to take it with any other medication so I used to take mine early evening, never had any problems with it but we are all different, wise to contact your cardiologist though. Best wishes. xx
