Well tomorrow morning I will finally know whether I had a stent fitted during my last angiography at the beginning of September last year. If I haven't it's going to be a bit of a dilemma as to whether to go for a stent or not as I have been relatively angina free (and when I have had its been relatively mild) except for a blip at the beginning of Feb this year. Having a completely blocked LAD do I rely on the meds, which at the moment are aspirin, amlodipine statin and at the moment Coolidge to keep me well. Personally I am pretty convinced I did have a stent as wasn't taking any anti angina meds until amlodipine was added in Feb and I could do things that would have brought on a bad angina attack before I was diagnosed.

Well folks the news is that I did have a stent fitted when I had my angiography in september. Just got to do the app on the phone for another couple of weeks and fill in yet another questionnaire, (presumably to see if knowing the Result changes how you feel). For me the whole experience has been worthwhile, as otherwise I would only now. been offered a stent. If you get asked to take part I personally would say go for it.

Hi i was waiting to see how you got on as i also was asked to take part in that trial ,at the time i was a nervous wreck about the whole thing and was worried they wouldnt stent me and i would have to go through the whole thing again at the end of the trial .I ended up waiting 9 months to finally go in for my stent in October and ended up coming out without one ! cardiologist said although 80% blocked LAD the pressure wire test showed the blood flow was ok so didnt need one i wondered had i took part in the trial if they would have stented me without needing one 🤔well not that day anyway as the dr said lol

I know it's not for every one. Glad you didn't need a stent in the end I presume you are just on meds to control your condition. My LAD was 100% blocked and I was getting bad angina just walking up to our local shops which are 10mins away, so it was a no brainer for me to take part. When I was told about the total blockage I was surprised I hadn't had a heart attack. Hopefully the clopidogrel and statins are doing a good job of keeping the other arteries from blocking up more

I must admit it' didn't take much persuading, as it was a long wait for a stent and at least if I took part in the trial I stood a 50/ 50 chance of being stented. Hopefully at the end they will have a clearer view of whether stenting is the way forward. I know my doc said other countries are interested in the research as well. I will be interested to see at the end of the trial (which I think is 2024) what the conclusion is.
