Reading everyone's posts this week about their experiences with the NHS this year I think I have been very lucky. Having eventually been diagnosed with angina after 2 trips to our local hospital's A&E I was referred to Basildon cardiothoratic Centre and they have been fantastic. As you are probably aware I agreed to join their Orbita trial to see whether stent or placebo effect worked best. I am now pretty sure I did have the stent at my last angiography. The last few weeks have been very stressful, with my Mum passing away and having to sort every thing out, being an only child and I am sure I would have had a few bad angina attacks as I am not in any anti angina meds. It was mums funeral this week and I was so pleased to see how many people turned up. Mum was 104 and at that age all her friends had died many years ago, but all the folks from the luncheon club at our local church, which mum did go.to came. Stephanie the vicar took the service and it made it seem even more special as she knew mum. Hope all those of you who have had problems with the NHS this year getbsorted

Orbits trial
Dear annpavitt250448
How nice to hear a positive post about the service that someone has received from the NHS .
very interesting that they think that having a stent put in could be matched with a placebo for I would have thought that they only placed a stent if it was needed? why would they stent a heathy heart?
So sorry that you have lost your dear mum and the stress, that many of us can agree, comes with all the arrangements etc as we send our loved ones off.
Im not going to say that your mum had a good innings or any other reference to her age for I am sure she must be a great loss to you especially after being close all that time.
Refreshing to hear about the service and the interest that the Vicar had in your mum as I have been to far to many to count where this has not been so and us the mourners have felt a little flat from a cold send off by someone that didn't know the deceased .
You new life is really beginning now and I for one wish you all the best.
I have a completely blocked LAD and they couldn't put a stent in when I had the first proper angiography earlier this year, as it involved going from above and below blockage. It was a 7 to 8 month wait to get it done which was I agreed to the trial. Figured I had a 50/50 chance of getting stent. If I had symptoms return I would have been put back on meds. Will be interesting to see in the end of January beginning of Feb when trial ends whether I was stented. I told the doc who was running trial day after, angiography I didn't think I had had stent. Only people who actually know are those who did angiography, even doc who is running trial doesn't know. I reckon I am lucky not to have had a heart attack as I gather my condition is called "the widow maker". Luckily the other arteries are compensating.
the comparison will be in people with stable angina with > 70% stenosis to see if exercise tolerance improves with angioplasty.

Very interesting thank you,
Hello
So pleased you feel you have had the stent as your symptoms are now so much better if not altogether gone and son nice that people will share not just negatives about our NHS but positives to as so many do have positive experiences like you
Again I am sorry about you loss and yes at a 104 I imagine your Mums friends will no longer be here but by the sounds of the send of there were so many people that loved and cared for her including the Vicar , your Mum must have been really special
I hope life is good to you and how you are physically feeling now long continues x
Thanks. It's been one of those years as well as finding I had a completely blocked LAD I tripped over in the park and broke my arm near the shoulder, which has thankfully healed well. Seen to much of our local A&E this year, although I volunteer in the help desk at the same hospital.
Hello
You have been through it this year and I think we all have one of those years when we will be glad to see the back of it
Sounds painful breaking your arm near the Shoulder but glad it has healed well
Hope 2023 is a better year for you x
my deepest condolences, 💗🙏🏼
Yes I too have had an ‘Annus Horribilis as the late Queen would say. With all the health issues my brother died in hospital and he shouldn’t have done. 💗🙏🏼
SO sorry about your mother; what a wonderful age. I Lost my mum at 67 but it makes no difference to the way you feel. It's always devastating. Glad you've had such good treatment. I can always see a G P but he trouble is it's always a different one so no one actually seems in charge of my treatment or diagnosis
I know what you mean about seeing different GP it's the same here. My Dad died at 67 so mum had been on her own for 44 years
