5 weeks after pacemaker fitted but pre AV abalation. 11th Park Run and first with pacemaker although did a pre 5k none parkrun at rothervally just as a tester.I informed the stewards about having a pacemaker before i set off.

Its a hilly run at graves park, sheffield.

I am not the fittest persone and there was lots of hills but found i could steadily plod round the course.

I added 3 mins to my normal time there of 43 min but i was happy with my time.

Even if you just walk round the course i would recomend it as there is so much support. And you dont have to finish it but you end up feeling like you can. :-)

Hi can I ask why your having an Av Ablation, I had an CRT-D implanted and my Cardiologist said I think we will do an Av ablation, I wasn’t keen so went to see an expert on the subject. Who said your doing fine with your pacemaker I see no need for you to have an ablation

I have AF which means my heart rate is bouncing all over the place. The pacemaker as far as i am aware is to replace the AV node to regulate the lower chamber beat instead of relaying on the SV node signal

I have AF as well one of the reasons for my pacemaker, the consultant my Cardiologist sent me to said the pacemaker was doing it’s job and he saw no reason to take such drastic action, as I would become totally reliant on the pacemaker.

Thanks for your reply. Nothing is in stone yet and one of the things i have been discussing. I have had a number of opinions and the agrement is to remove the node. I will be asking again as i agrea its an extrem prosess but as i am not a cardiolagist will be going with their prognosis.

Brilliant, and yes I totally agree on advocating parkrun with GP or health teams support. It's helped me physically but mentally too on my stroke recovery. There are places not on my list for parkrun tourism and Sheffield is one! I used to occasionally go there for work, and once for a cup semi final back in the day, and the hills stick in my memory and those days I wasn't a runner! So your time of 43 is great. Parkrun 17 for me today 10 months on from C25K and a PB of 37'02", but flat!!!! Well done.

There are a couple of nice flat ones CoL. Rother vally is nice and one loop but manor one has heart break hill. 3 times lol. Worth a trip out. With a good mix of track type
