Can someone please tell me that when I am laying down in my bed , my breathing is relaxed , calm and measured ... giving me the impression , I have nothing wrong with my breathing ... copd etc AT ALL !!, ......but as soon as get into the upright position , say , sitting on the side of my bed , I start puffing away - gently to start with , then when I start moving about ....., the puffing GETS INTO FOURTH GEAR !!!..... ............so does this imply , = the lungs are more happy in the HORIZONTAL POSITION THAN IN THE VERTICLE POSITION ? ..... WHAT DO YOU THINK FOLKS ? .....LOTS OF THANKLIES !!V.🤔

Vertical versus horizontal can make q s8gnificant difference to how the body feels about. I'm a 64 yo male with ischaemic heart disease. I noticed that abdominal discomfort I had felt for years was worse at night. I regularly woke up at 3-4 am for an hour. Nothing alleviated the pain like standing up. Things got worse in the 1st year of the pandemic. Long story short, I had a stomach ulcers and 2 huge (simple) kidney cysts. The ulcers were sorted with antibiotics and the kidney cysts recently drained. Two litres of fluid, they got out. The removal of the cysts (like a giant coke bottle) has made a huge difference to the chronic discomfort. Such a relief. Message: don't ignore horizontal vs vertical symptoms. They can be important. Good luck.

Another possibility which is affecting a lot of people post virally is POTS ( see potsuk.org/) The NHS may do a "tilt test" if the postcode lottery is in your favour. As I understand it, it's to do with the autonomic nervous system and different positions can affect pulse rate, and/or blood pressure or other autonomic functions.
