Hello, looking for some advice. My last 2 tests didn't have the greatest results. The second with an even higher number. I'm getting another test this week and I have really been working hard over the last 4 months to see if I can get this number down. Lost a few pounds and have stepped up my daily walking routine. I'm going in for an echo next week and they want the test result when I go. I have very high blood pressure - which is now under control with quite a few meds. I also have pulmonary hypertension. My tests in the past have been after driving 3 hours to the clinic and really not eating or drinking much before leaving early in the morning. I'll be having this test at home a few days before I go. Does anyone have advice or their experience in bringing the test results down? I know it can definitely happen with some lifestyle changes, but I'm wondering if diet the day before the test makes any difference, or time of day, or hydration. I'm really anxious about this. Any words of wisdom would definitely be appreciated! Thank you!
NT Pro BNP test: Hello, looking for... - British Heart Fou...
NT Pro BNP test
I must confess I didn't know what this was so had to look it up. If it were a blood pressure type test I would say not to be anxious and relax and don't drive excessive distances, but it seems to be a simple blood test which its not possible to change. Other than ensuring you are rested, havent taken anything that might affect blood quality-alcohol etc-then the test is what it is. Its likely your weight loss will help.
Good luck!
Thank you! Getting the blood work tomorrow and only eating natural foods today, nothing processed 🙂
how’s your results now mines just gone up so looking for advice
Thank you
how much did it go up? Mine went down a few points which was very good. From what I understand slight variations are normal. Mine is still much higher than I would like, but happy that it went down and not up.
July in hospital with AF 2350
November 180
End of December 484
Which makes me think it’s AF the reason behind the changes in numbers
Sorry to heart that...What are your symptoms? Do you have mitral valve prolapse ,or what did they say?
I am breathless in a strange way I woke at 2am and was breathless to 1pm the day after then no issue from 1pm yesterday to now . Some days I can’t walk upstairs without breathing heavy other days a 3 mile walk isn’t a problem
I have AF but I don’t always have a high pulse with the breathing issue
I had a echo and it was found I had a mild mitral valve regurgitation
I have had 2 x 24 hour tapes one my pulse was 70 average the next time average 130 and peak 180
Did they say what level is your mitral valve regurgitation? And it sounds like you could have tachycardia, at least I do and my pulse jumps like that. I take medicine to lower the pulse, not thr heart rate thats already 9/5 but the pulse. My bpn came high as well
I’m on Bisoprolol currently tried Amiodarine no joy .
The echo said Mild MR and the crest not to bad low normal EF
The BPN is a worry to me
what meds are you on
They've only put me something that lowers thr pulse since i have a low blood preasure and i cant take beta ,now i am waiting with the new findings of high bnp and increasing to see what the doctors say, I don't place much hope in them...
