Parkwalk update

Hey Everyone

Thanks for all the comments on me doing the parkrun at the weekend. I've taken all the comments on board and I've decided I'm going to walk it.

I've run the course before and as I've volunteered since my heart attack I know a lot of the regular volunteers so I'm going to let them know I'm about, plus I'm going to walk very closely with the parkwalker/tailwalker.

Someone asked if I take photos I do but I'm never very confident in showing my photos, but I might taken my camera and enjoy the walk.

I'm going to do a short walk (maybe a 30 minutes walk) this afternoon to get used to walking again

I've going to take my GTN spray and some Aspirin as well as an ICE card with my medical condition and medications on.

Thanks again

V x

Ps my account was reported, I think it was about my fact of the days, so I'll stop now x x

Hello :-)

I saw your post yesterday but you had replies that made sense and I could not add anymore plus I have never done one of these Parkrun things either :-)

But having read your post I was sat thinking I would walk it the first few times so I think you have made a sensible decision here and look forward to hearing how you get on

Putting pictures on here is a personal choice and I totally get why you would not feel comfortable in doing so also if people are trying to find something via Google search Engine they do not have to be a member on here but could come across your pictures which again I would not feel comfortable with knowing that

Helps protect what you are doing on here by locking your posts to Community only in the options

But taking your own personal pictures is nice and you could start like a Dairy including the pictures you take so eventually you can look back on it and see how far you have come :-)

Don't let it concern you about your account but if you feel like that is the reason it was reported then again a sensible idea to stop the posts and there are so many posts with people struggling or needing advice that you can answer so nothing lost there just others will gain with your input :-)

Good luck for Sunday this is another start in moving forward :-) x

Thank you

Parkruns are great for getting out and doing something on a Saturday morning. I highly recommend them, in October they started to encourage people to walk it.

That was my main reason for not putting photos up, I do a lot on online safety at school so I'm very wary of what I post.

I can't think any other reason my account would have been reported, so it's best if I finish. I'd much rather keep my account to support others and get support

Hello :-)

This is how much I know about Parkruns for some reason I imagined them on a Sunday not sure why but they do seem to be taking of I have noticed that much

One tip a Rehab Nurse gave me as I am always worrying what is to much was that when I feel out of puff if I can still talk then carry on if I am struggling to talk then stop and rest

I find that helps to gage things with me how far I have pushed myself

You could always ask them what you have done if you wanted but it is rare someone will have their account removed

I bet thinking about it I am not sure if you have one of those step things that count the steps you do but at School been a big building I imagine you are clocking some steps up everyday so everything you are doing you are soon going to be back to normal and even better than what you were because of the changes you have made and continue to do :-) x

I have a Garmin watch that tracks my steps, HR, sleep and you name it it does it 😂 it does also tell the time 🤣 I was telling my Mum about everything the watch does when I got it, and she went, "But Valentina does it tell the time" 🤣 I might have rolled my eyes and laughed, I confirmed it does tell the time and shows the date.

When I started running I was told to run slow and if I can talk I was going at a good pace.

Hello :-)

I am on your Mother's way of thinking then as everything you have said about the watch I would be completely lost and I would have come out with just the same does it tell the time :-D

But it sounds good even though I have all on with just basic things :-)

Well there is one thing my Husband said when I repeated if I can keep talking I keep going his reply was well you won't have any issues with that then as you never shut up ! :-) x

I've been doing a parkrun since August I love them, this will be my first parkwalk. I've been volunteering since I had my heart attack

If you have any questions I be happy to try and answer them

Weird about account reported, maybe someone thought the ‘ facts’ were off topic. Don’t let it put you off, it’s a good forum and as you say , you are well aware of online safety etc etc

Good decision re the Parkwalk, hope you enjoy it and hope the weather is agreeable.

Hey

Yes I think it was reported for not being health/heart related.

I'll keep posting still just maybe not the facts

I'll send you a private message everyday then 😂

I've run parkruns before, just never walked them and certainly not since my heart attack. I've been volunteering so I could still be involved

Now Thatwasunexpected will be Pub quiz supremo as well as holder of medals for many track& field records!! ( jealous, moi??😜)

Maybe there should be a petition for the Facts to stay! Seemed a nice snippet of general information for those interested and not harming anyone.

Hey! Yes, definitly do the ParkRuns walking! 100%!! :D before I ran them, I walked them and that was before I knew I have any health issues at all!! You will get back to walking faster and running eventually. I am nearly a year post bypass surgery and I am back to going to the gym/running and I am currently training to do a 40km hike. You are the first person/lady on here younger than me, so I reckon you will bounce even quicker!! Go for it girl! :D xx
