Hi 🤗 Everyone, I've just tried to nail down a Holiday insurance quote but I've hit a brickwall and was hoping that I can tap into the wealth of knowledge of my fellow Hearties.
On the 26th September I had double Bypass Surgery. What with lockdown and my diagnosis of a severe Stenosis on the LAD last February my wife and I really could do with a holiday 🏖️.
Unfortunately, my quote came to an abrupt holt when l ran up against the "Are you taking medication for high blood pressure?" Well I'm currently on a daily basis taking Lansoprazole 30mg...Bisoprolol 1.25mg... Clopidgrel 75mg...Asprin 75mg...Ramipril 1.25mg..Atorvastatin 40mg.
I tried to explain to the sales rep that I've been very fortunate. I've never suffered from high blood pressure. And I'm not suffering from it now or high levels of cholesterol. The only reason why I'm taking this cocktail of drugs is that it is the Gold standard practice following Bypass surgery to guard against the heart remodelling itself.
That's the point when the rep had to end the quote as she couldn't continue until she'd confirmed whether any of my medications were to lower my blood pressure.
She suggested I speak to my GP.
Not wishing to put any more stress on the health service I was hoping one of you Hearties has some advice to offer ...
Are any of the medications I'm taking designated blood pressure lowering?
The other question that foxed me was "are you taking medication to lower your cholesterol?" I tried to explain that I was taking Statins but not to lower my Cholesterol as its always been low I'm taking it as it guards against plaque breaking off the Artery walls and it's a proven anti inflammatory.
I just gave up on that one. "Yes I'm taking it to lower my Cholesterol!"
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and would save my GP's time.
My best wishes for the New Year to everyone 🥰.
