Good evening ,

i need to ask if anyone since going on medication seems to have a sense of an odour as my wife disclosed to me she has smelt it too on me. I had a heart attack in October and despite being fairy fit and having a healthy diet also no heart issues in my family i had this mild heart attack which has shocked me, family and friends. Moving forward i had an angiogram which resulted showing i needed one stent in my LAD artery. I have also been put on what seems to be the usual concoction of medication , Ramipril, Ticagrelor, Lansoprazole, Aspirin,Propranolol and Atorvastatin, do any of you notice a kind of odour since taking any of this medication as a long with the feeling of depression i get i have noticed this smell which i feel is coming off me.

Hi there,

This is interesting. I had bypass surgery late September l wasn’t on the plethora of meds l am currently taking, but like you l smell a strange odour almost like petrol, kind of metallic. I live on my own so no help there. Although l live in Australia and we were smashed by rain this year l had mold in my bedroom in the carpet under my bed. My bed had mold also l threw it out.

I live in a council house and they have done zero to help me. I do not use my bedroom or go in there. I don’t know if the smell is from there. It has been more prevelant since my surgery hmmm very interesting,

I sometimes smell funny but it’s from my diabetes and kidney issues, I am on loads of meds and think the body can smell of them. If my wife complains about the smell to much I tell her to have a shower lol

I wouldn't get too hung up on assuming it is to do with your heart or heart meds. There are other health conditions that can result in an odour and you can still have other conditions at the same time as your heart problems as many on this forum can testify. I once knew someone who had a terrible overpowering odour, but I can't remember the name of the medical condition he had. This poor fella had it really bad and it affected his skin also, so that he would regularly break out in blisters which required dressing. Do a bit of research on bad odours and general health conditions, if only to rule this out.

Hi, just to let you know that I had a stent 7 years ago, and I perspire a lot more and I’m on a concoction of drugs, but not the ones you’re on. I definitely have a strongish odour which I didn’t have before, and I also perspire a lot more than usual which I’m sure is due to the meds. As far as depression is concerned, I also suffered with this for about 12 months, normal I believe, it will pass in time. Good luck.
