post heart attack and stent insertion

my partner had heart attack and stent inserted at the end of January. Nothing but trouble since in that it seems the medication has some effect in constant dizzy spells and light heads, so extreme that he cannot leave the house and isn't eating as much etc. He has been taken off ramipril altogether.

On a recent hospital admission they said he had an ejection systolic murmur and following another visit to a different hospital on Friday who met with a fabulous consultant who has taken him bisoprolol for a week to see if it would be that causing the dizzy spells and he could not locate the murmur.

Has anyone else had problems with medication? it seems it is trial and error however this is affecting his daily day to day life with the dizzy spells and light headedness and indeed his eating, sleeping and everything. It would seem to me that the aftercare in our area following a heart attack and stent fitting is slack and everything we have had to find out i have found out from this site.

Hello :-)

The heart murmur have they said it is due to a leaky valve as I have one it is mild though so at the moment nothing needs to be done but sometimes they can hear it others they can't

Yes Bisoprolol can have that side effect and for some quite severe so it could be that causing it the week been of it will soon tell if he improves

Let us know how he gets on :-) x

It can take quite a while to get medications balanced for an individual. Some of us respond badly to one drug that others get on well with. Give it time. I'm 24 years post MI and stent but tick along well

I was put on Ramipril after I had two stents. I found that it gave me an horrendous cough which I have now discovered is one of the common side effects. As soon as they took me off Ramipril my cough went.
