Greetings,
I always had borderline high cholesterol (190/200), In 2019 had a CT scan and was a bit shocked that it was 477 as I was very active with Crossfit..etc. That number, according to Dr. Google, is shockingly bad, and I stress every time I think about it.
My cardiologist gave me a stress treadmill and said that there was no evidence of ischemia by anginal symptoms or electrocardiographic findings and a low probability of obstructive CAD. He put me on 5mg of Rosuvastatin and baby aspirin and said that is basically all he can/will do. Is there not any other interventions?
I have continued to exercise and eat mostly a plant-based diet. My weight and lipid numbers are good but I recently have also been DX'd with prostate cancer and am currently on hormone therapy and radiation treatment. While it looks like we can treat this. This experience has me reviewing my cardiac health to see if there is anything I need to address around cardiovascular prevention. My current cardiologist is a surgeon and likes to put things like stents in people. Should I seek out someone that focuses on prevention..etc.
My cancer experience has shown me that I'm the one that needs to manage my health and want to ensure I'm doing everything to ensure I have a decent quality of life going forward. This getting old is not for the faint of heart.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Mark
