Hi everyone,

This seems a really informative and supportive forum … so wondering if you have any advice please ? A couple of weeks ago I woke up with what seemed liked really bad indigestion or trapped gas. The pain seemed much worse if I tried to lie down, particularly on my left side, but no other symptoms. Phoned 111 who said go to GP or A and E. Managed to get a GP appointment next day who did and ECG. He said I had irregular heartbeat and was beating very fast. Gave me some beta blockers and blood thinners which I took for a couple of days. Felt quite light headed and took my own pulse which seemed low. Went back to GP who confirmed with another ECG that I now had low heart rate and it has gone back into sinus rhythm and to stop all meds. All bloods have come back normal although cholesterol is getting to high level. Luckily I was able to see a cardiologist privately who at this point thinks it was at. fib caused by pericarditis which he said may happen once or a number of time. He has suggested an echocardiogram. The pain came back with a vengeance last night, took some ibuprofen but was on the verge of asking husband to take me to a and e. I know that I am fortunate with having a relatively quick route to get to the bottom of this, but really starting to worry me … tearful thinking that I am having heart attack, not knowing what to do - go to a and e or just manage symptoms at home etc. So would be grateful for any advice …. many thanks Jo

Hello & Welcome :-)

I have read your post and of course not been a Doctor I cannot say what could be going of but from my own experiences I would say go to A&E , let them check you out it is worth it of just for peace of mind

I can imagine you may not want to hear this advice I know I would not either and I am not saying anything serious is happening but I am so glad each time as much as I hated going I went to A&E

Keep us updated how you are and any doubt get yourself looked at :-) x

Definitely go to A&E if pain gets worse. Only advice I would give at this point be careful taking ibuprofen if you are on heart medication speak with your GP first. Good Luck.

first call is A&E with those symptoms, which is basically what your Dr has said, do not try to manage this at home until the medical profession is 100% sure of what it is.

Sorry if this adds to your worry, but a very warm welcome to you
