I wouldn’t do it without getting medical advice. Cardiac Nurse or GP.

Using the online consultation with surgery it might be worth contacting surgery this way if you are struggling with an appointment. It's important you speak to GP or cardiac nurse before reducing medication. You sound as if you're also getting fitter so your resting pulse may be lower.

Congratulations on the weight loss and exercise, it's not always easy but it's so effective. If you can maintain a healthy weight, and achieve the NHS recommended 150 minutes per week of exercise, then you'll dramatically reduce your risk of a heart attack or stroke.

However, I still wouldn't tinker with medication without a GP's approval.

We only have two tools in our tool box, medication and life style changes. These are the only two things that can slow the progress of our heart disease, stents or bypass surgery will just buy us some time and remove some angina symptoms. The real work is done by medication and life style changes.

Giving up on medication is blunting one of those two critical tools. That's a mighty big decision.

Good luck!

I usually pose a question about my medication to the GP practice online. They then phone the answer back to me. I did this last year when my blood test results indicated a rise in my cholesterol level. At the time I was taking my statin as prescribed on alternate days. I suggested taking it daily (making reference to my test results) and the GP agreed and my prescription was doubled.

It sounds like your situation is much more urgent, so I would press for an appointment with your GP, even if it has to be by phone.

My GP surger wont let you talk to the GP without making an appointment ,,and these are all gone by 07.59

Well I certainly hope you get an appointment tomorrow. You really do need to discuss what is happening. I'm only on 1.25mg Bisoprolol a day, yet still get dizzy spells and try to pass out when I stand up after sitting for a long time..... I don't often sit through a film on TV. 😀

By chance I have a call from my cardiologist tomorrow ...my GPs team ducked the question as they did not start any of my meds .

Well my GP was happy to adjust my meds back in 2017/18. Whether the situation over the past few years has changed things.... well, we have our own opinions on that.

Pleased you have the call from your cardiologist which hopefully will see the problem sorted.

Hi Jamse,

Is this a resting bp and pulse? What are your readings after exercise? My rate is low also but can go up after exercise but will come down after a recovery period. Do you feel ok for most of the time? If worried try a local pharmacist if you can't get a doctor appointment. Don't reduce any more without medical advice. I have been on Bisoprolol and candestaten for about two years plus,i do get tired at times but keep busy most days (83 years young).

Just read the fact you passed out. Did you tell the surgery that happened. They should offer you an urgent emergency appointment the same day. Take care and do not drop the meds.

Jamse, That's good ,how long does it take to go back down to the lower beat? I am on 5mg x1 taken at the start of the day. Glad to hear you have a call arranged to sort it out.

I have been quite stable on Bisoprolol. I think you should contact the cardiac nurse for advice before changing your medication . Good lLuck!
