A bit of background, My partner had a quadruple bypass 3 years ago at the age of 45. All went well and he generally is very well now.
He also had a pacemaker fitted about 8 years ago after cardiac arrest, thought to be linked to thyroid problems.
Since the bypass operation he has had three episodes of severe pain in the centre of his lower chest/ upper abdomen. Lasting about 2 hours then going away on its own.
The first time and latest time (this week) we went to A&E where ecg, X-ray, bloods etc were all fine. This time he tested positive for flu. The doctor suggested Gaviscon if he gets the pain again.
Does anyone have experience of anything similar?

Sorry to hear that your husband suffers from bouts of pain, it sounds like that it could be gastro related but you have to remember that I am not medically trained.
With the pacemaker fitted the rhythm clinic would have been in touch should there have been something wrong with the heart { this is information that your DR can tap into and certainly they would have in A&E }
What I don't understand is that I am presuming that your husband is on the standard concoction of heart drugs , many of which can cause gastro problems.
I take lansoprazole which helps.
Gastro pains can mimic heart problems and should never be ignored , I hope that he gets it sorted soon.
