In March I had a heart attack 10 days after a diverticular bleed.
I was told I needed a triple bypass as stents weren’t an option because of the need for long term blood thinners and multiple sites of disease. After feeling exhausted and having angina for 2 months after discharge it was finally picked up by my GP that I was very anaemic and low in iron & I had an iron infusion.
The op has been deferred at present as few incidents of angina now and awaiting results of CT colonoscopy, GP says that initial report shows nothing untoward but general diverticular disease that I have had for 25 years plus.
Why then have I had severe bouts of unexplained explosive diarrhoea over the last couple of months. No pain or nausea. Do not seem to be related to what I eat but seems to be following some exertion during the day. Could it be related to the heart disease or one of the heart meds, including 80mg Atorvastatin daily.
Any ideas?

Of course we are not Doctors and so we are all guessing here but I would say it is one of the meds you take that could be the cause of this
I would speak with your Doctor and go through them , even talk with your pharmacist about your meds and which could have this effect and then maybe your Doctor will look at tweaking your meds to see if it makes a difference
I suffer with my stomach so know how unpleasant this can be and I hope you get it sorted
hi. I had iron infusions and it played havoc with my digestive system. I also have problems with some of the meds I’m taking, omeprazole seems to be the main culprit in my case. Sometimes these meds destroy or interfere with our gut flora and cause problems. I tried probiotics but they didn’t work for me, they may work for you though. At the moment I’m trying to stay off bread and wheat as that seems to make things worse. I really hope that you get it sorted as you must be feeling very fed up.
