Hi. I’ve just been prescribed Fexofenadine antihistamine tablets 180 mg by a dermatologist for itching.
The leaflet says under warnings and precautions: ‘tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have or ever had heart disease since this kind of medicine may lead to a fast or irregular heart beat’. It also can make you drowsy
So I don’t want to take it. Does anyone know anything about it? They seem to just give us these things without investigating.
Thanks

I have had many tablets given me and then read the leaflet and it goes on to say if you have heart etc and I have thought that is me what are they giving me them for ?
I have either contacted my Doctor or easier sometimes to speak to your pharmacist got a explanation why it is safe and then gone on to take them
Maybe ask your Doctor or pharmacists about what you have read and hopefully they can explain why they will not harm you
I have been taking them for many years for my allergies. I’ve been told to continue taking them despite my heart attack so I don’t have reactions to the meds. We’re all different so a quick check with the GP would be good. However if we read every single thing on the meds sheets we wouldn’t take anything and we would be in trouble then lol. Take care.
I think they’re not supposed to make you drowsy but they’re antihistamines so they’re supposed to suppress your reactions. In my case they slow me slightly but hay fever does the same so I’m no worse off. If you’re new to them you may feel sleepy to start with but you’ll get used to them.
