Hi everyone ive just been diagnosed with LVH/diastolic dysfunction.
I had a chat with gp after getting the results from my echocardiogram but im still a bit lost and overwhelmed.
Is this heart faliure? Im trying to walk more, i cant do much as ive a disability but i know i need to try.
My diet has never been the best ( prob horrendous to some if i told you what i have regarly) but i need to get my head in the right space and sort this all out.
My mental health isnt great atm so its difficult.
I just could really do with some support please.

hello I can totally understand where your coming from, little changes are best with all aspects. So be proud if you’ve walked a little bit. Be proud if you ate one thing healthier than not healthy today. Trying to take in your health issues and trying to make changes whilst managing your mental health will definitely be overwhelming and a juggling act. Might be worth going back to doc/ cardiologist and asking about the extent of the LVH etc I.e. mild or otherwise. This may help you (even if the answer is not what you want to hear) process this all in being informed. Be kind to yourself. 😊
Thank you for your reply, ive spoken to GP and its mild so thats a plus.
Ive bought a fitbit for a little encouragement, i know they arent spot on with the readings etc but i do like to see that ive made some improvements and i get a little nudge to get up and move a little more during the day.
I think im learning from you all here that its about being informed and taking one day at a time as well as being kind to myself when i dont move as much or eat great one day x
I’m under a cardiologist- second one- first one didn’t mention it at all per echo, current one mentioned on letter but they are focusing on my congenital heart defect (part of my LAD is buried inside my heart muscle when should be on the surface so gets squished). I am on blood pressure tablets though. My GP said nothing wrong with heart and that it’s because I’m fat and anxious and I should take antidepressants, you have 🤣 or I’d 😭 I don’t like seeing him……
There are several grades of diastolic dysfunction, basic terms your heart is struggling a bit and not working as well as some, it isn’t a death sentence and in many cases won’t get worse. It is scary when you get limited information and it all sounds like a foreign language when you read medical terminology. Just do you best to make improvements no matter how small, anything is better than nothing. Being more active doesn’t mean running a marathon, for some of us with disabilities its just walking round the house a few times more each day x
