Soon I will be getting a stent on a major blockage which seems to be causing my mild angina. I'm currently taking Bisoprolol fumarate and Ranexa to counter angina symptoms.
After getting the stent can I expect to stop taking the two tablets or does it vary from person to person?

Hidden well explained, quick question does ace inhibitors helps improve low EF. No HA but stents in..was on bisoprolol low dose since EF hasn't improved added peridndropl low dose .
You've been stented because you've got heart disease. Heart disease is both incurable and progressive, which means stents (and even bypass surgery or transplants) don't actually cure us, and left to its own devices our heart disease will just keep getting worse.
There are only two weapons in our armoury to slow down the progress of this disease; medication and life style changes. They're the only two things we have that might keep us safe and active.
Personally I've chosen to double down on both those things. But, whatever strategy you choose to give yourself more years of life and more life in your years, I wish you the very best of luck!
That make sense Hidden thank you so much , cardiologist said otherwise as I was already on low dose bisoprolol I assume two of four pillars. I didn't have HA , identified during routine test 70% blocked low EF. Stent and hoping EF will improve. I may ask this during next visit to cardiologist I
Hi there,I think the rule of thumb is that youbwull be given aspirin, a beta blocker and some kind of anti platelet drug. Clopidogrel seems to be the favourite. This babies from hospital to hospital though, but these seem to be the usual cocktail. Hope that helps. Take care
As TWU wrote ,(he's always on the ball!)I was on ticagrelor after my HA and stent for a year to prevent clotting.
The cardiologist at Liverpool heart and chest hosp told me I must seek his permission to come off ticagrelor...but when I contacted his secretary after a year, was told to see GP !
I must have imagined it whilst getting stent put in !!
My Dr said never stop taking bisoprolol without discussing with your Dr. Busoprolol is helping your geart work efficiently to suddenly stop could cause a geart attack as the geart has to then do all the work and it would be the pumping of the heart under pressure
yeah pretty much as everyone has said. Stenting is about restoration of the blood flow but the it does not address the root cause which is the coronary artery disease (CAD). CAD is progressive and hence, medication and lifestyle changes are necessary to slow down the progress and give ourselves more healthy time.
Mostly, statin, aspirin and bisoprolol - unless significant issues in tolerating those. Ticagrelor/clopidegrol for 12 months. I was also prescribed Ramipril but was stopped immedidately since I my blood pressure is already quite low - 100-70.
So, 12 months after stenting, I am now on low dose aspirin, low dose bisoprolol, high dose (30mg) rosuvastatin and lansoprazole. Stopping Ticagrelor is helpful since I can take all my medicines in one go and then forget about it for the rest of the day.
