Congestive heart failure

symptoms started a few month ago sweats,wheezy cough for 6 wks , uncomfortable lying down , breathless,mucus with blood in ,went to hospital feeling unwell after been assessed all that day to be told I had heart failure, high blood pressure? Was put on furosemide tablets and antibiotics then waited to have echocardiogram and cardioligist told me ive got two valves that are bad and it's a rare heart condition called rheumatic fever as a child and not known about it till now and the medication im already on is furomeside, ramipril and told i need invase treatment as medicatimedication will not work in long term and surgery is needed as leaking and filling my lungs up with two pints of fluid on both lungs av felt unwell since all this happening as in restlerestless, breathless sometimes and aching on my left lung im confused what us this ive got a it serious ? X

It sounds like surgery is needed if your valves are leaking as you say. Have you had a one to one appointment with your cardiologist? I would arrange a chat to go more in depth about your condition and get some comfort around the recommended steps going forward.

its all a blur to me still ive had one to one with my doctor from cardiqc centre he was the one who put is on medication also told me the diagnisus which i dont remember what he said i had its rare only 10 out if so many milluon people have had this through having scarlet fevir rheumatic fever as a child and not known about it till now ,he suggestesuggested I have sime keyhole surgery thriugh a cut in my breastbone to do something also av had all rhe tests as in bloods ,blood pressure ,xrays echocardiogram qnd he put me on furosemide and ramipril till I have angiogram and invasive ? For placeable device i dont understand any of this at all xx

You posted 2 days ago and I know you said you were waiting for I think and angiogram ?

Have you had this done now and is this what they have told you it sounds like you have been seen as you have a more detailed diagnosis to what is wrong

If this is the case wait till you see the Consultant surgery may be needed but there are so many on here that have had new valves , my Surgeon that did my Bypasses sounds a bit crazy but the operations she liked doing most were new valves for people with high success rates so it could be an operation but one that would give you a new lease of life if needed

Let us know when you have spoken to the Consultants what treatment they feel is going to be best for you x

The positive side of this is that your heart failure may be treatable. I have heard many positive reports of replacement of heart valves.
