I was in a e for 8 hours on Tuesday high blood pressure breathless been diagnosed with congested heart failure really worried I lost my hubby 8 months today not ready to leave this world just yet

Did they suggest what treatment is available ?

It does sound frightening when you hear those words but with the right treatment and a healthy lifestyle people can live years with this so others that have been diagnosed with the same when they see your post will share their positive experiences with you and hopefully it will help you

I really do sympathise with you as I lost my husband a year ago at Christmas just gone and have also been recently diagnosed with Stage 2 Heart Failure. . I’m currently not on medication for it and have been told that plenty of exercise and healthy eating will help. I’m currently doing Cardiac Rehab which is certainly helping on the exercise part and I’ve always been very careful of what I eat, so keeping my fingers crossed for the future as those two things can reverse the HF. Do you know what Stage you are? They range from 1-4 , four being severe. Im doing Cardiac Rehab due to other heart issues too, so it may not be available to everyone. Life does get easier so don’t give up. Like you, I’m certainly not prepared to leave this world!

i'm sorry to hear that you have been hit with a new diagnosis which sounds scary. Can i try to reassure you but saying that heart failure does not mean that you heart is about to give up on you - it is a term doctors use instead of cardiomyopathy, which is a bit of a mouthful - what it means is that your heart (cardio) muscle (myocardium) is a bit weakened (..pathy) so it it not pumping as well as it should

the good news is that there are medications which can help this and treatment has really improved - lots of people live with this for decades

there is info and some support from Cardiomyopathy UK cardiomyopathy.org/ - they have a helpline with speicalist staff if you have questions and concerns as well as lots of helpful videos and information which you can read online and download

your local hospital might have a heart failure clinic and support staff, and you might be offered rehab, as Rosie1066 mentioned

so it's not the end of the road.....yet🙂🌺

That's such a horrible term, heart failure. It's not going to suddenly stop , it's just not working as well as it should. There are lots of treatments that can help. My mother li ved to almost 70 after being diagnosed with heart failure in her 20s. Her heart was damaged by eclampsia in pregnancy. She never had any treatment back then or any symptoms except mild breathlessness on gentle h ills. I'm so sorry about your husband.

Hello dear roycaz, sorry for your loss my friend. I know how scared you are feeling right now. I can tell you from recent experience as have our other friends who have responded to you. That there are great medications available right now that will help your condition, as well as treatment. I can say this because I like you have same diagnosis and am taking such meds and treatment. I feel great and am looking forward to the rest of my life now. I am going back to work April. Please 🙏 try not to be afraid, I know it's hard ATM. Your cardiologist will take great of you and put you on right treatment plan. Please can you keep us updated. Lynnx
