I have taken daily lansoprazole for over four years and before that esomeprazole for well over 15 years and I can say that they have not affected me as you describe. However you should be taking your prazole meds at the beginning of the day, preferably before breakfast, so that they can work as intended.

I’ve been on 30mg in the morning for around 20 years then around 10 years ago I started taking 30mg at night as well so 60mg per day total with no problems. Hope you get it sorted.

Same here with no problems, if anything its the reverse.

I was in Omeprozole and had no problems. I think doc wanted me to change as Omeprozole doesn't work so well with all the other pills. Will discuss it Friday with him.

I've tried all of the 'prazoles' , and cannot stomach them.My doctor prescribed famotidine which works in a different way to lansoprazole etc and doesn't cause any issues for me.

Hi been on it for 5 months now and it helps reduce the burping - I take in morning before get out of bed. I found out It controls burping cos I was a bit bad in last week not taking it / missing some. Before heart meds no issues with excessive burping,

lansoprazole and Omeprozole are antacids that stop your stomach producing acid which you need to digest your food properly hence the loose stools and diarrhea.do you have a gastro problem? if not i would discuss with your GP why you need it.

Both times I've been prescribed PPIs it was down to my GP thinking that I might need them when in fact I didn't. Indeed, they made me very unwell and did more harm than good. We are all different.

Was on omeprezole originally as I had acid reflux and after endoscopy found I have moderate erosive gastritis. Never had any problems taking oneprozole. GP changed it to lanzoperole and had exactly same problems I am having now. Under cardio doc at Basildon and he wanted me to take lanzoperole as omeprezole doesn't work so well with other meds I take. Will see him Friday as having angiogram and discuss it then

Sorry should have said I think it “bungs” me up rather than being runny.

They both give me the runs, so no longer take either.

Yep ! I had terrible tummy upset and “ urgent “ problems with Lansoprazole! Dr took me off and it all stopped (not without having to have a colonoscopy just to be certain !!) No Lansoprazole no runs !! Hurray!

I had to change from lansoprozole due to bowel issues- there was a report in the daily mail about it earlier this year - it’s all settled down on the alternative thank goodness

you don't mention why you were prescribed this medication, it might be time to review why you are taking it with your GP

Pharmacists are helpful if you have queries about side effects or dosage, they are also easier to access than most doctors!

are you also looking after your gut flora? this type of medication alters the acidity of your gut contents, this can have consequences for your gut flora (and your general health) which do not show up immediately - there is no instant solution for problems with gut flora, it's a gradual process which is not solved with a helping of yogurt or two - but it is important if you have any kind of gut condition (and for preventing them)

Was taking omeprozole because I have moderately erosive gastritis. My GP changed it to lanzoperole and it had same effect as it has now so went back on omeprezole. Was quite happy on omeprozole, but doc at Basildon cardiac centre, who I am under for a study on effect of stent re placebo changed it to lanzoperole as rhe other doesn't work so well with the other medication I am on.As having angiogram Friday so will discuss it with him then

I am well aware of the effects on stomach acidity, belive me if I didn't have to take it I wouldn't. I am very careful as to what I eat have cut out things that cause flare up of acid reflux

Thanks. I have got to go on clopidogerol and I know omeprozole doesn't work with it so looks as if I will have to persevere with the lanziperole, unless they come up with another solution
