Tinnitus

I also developed tinnitus after my triple by pass. Never had any problems before. Had various tests done on my ears and an MRI but nothing showed. Best guess “it’ll probably subside after a while”. That was almost 2 years ago. I know it feels horrendous and it’s hard to believe we can’t “cure” it but despite my angry response at the beginning I am getting used to it - somewhat. Tried all the distractions which turned out, for me, to be worse than the problem. I’m trying to say it will get to where you can cope with it even at the beginning you think you won’t. If you do in fact get a remedy I’d love to hear about it. Sorry I can’t be more positive but maybe yours will in deed be temporary. All the best.

Hi,

I developed my heart beating in my ears after my surgery had Aortic valve replaced and bypass. At one of my visits to my GP mentioned it as it was driving me nuts, thought it was my new valve! She said it was a form of tinnitus and there was nothing to treat it with! This was 5 years ago and it lasted maybe a couple of years, sometimes it would sound like hob nailed boots marching on cobblestone 😂 now it is there only very occasionally thank goodness.

Hope yours disappears soon.

Best wishes Pauline

I have chronic pulsatile tinnitus, not had heart surgery but worse since my pacemaker was fitted.

Audiologist is going to try me with Bluetooth hearing aids ( hearing is fine) which will amplify normal sounds and also have sounds like white noise to retrain the hearing to ignore the constant heartbeat noise.

I'm not convinced but it's worth a try.

Snap!! mine came on after a stent, lots of tests and MRI, all fine and it will subside, here I am 28 months later and its just the same, they almost say, just live with it, I also tried a hearing aid but no different. so here we are, with singing in our ear and that's it!!!

Hmmm unfortunately it doesn't seem to subside, mine has just got worse and worse. Did your hearing aids have the added sound facility ?

Thanks for info. That’s exactly what I was told. Learn to live with it. It’s taken me a while to get my head round it - don’t know if it’s the fact that there’s nothing to be done or the blasé (seemingly) response. Ah well.
