hi everyone.

Had TIA put on clopidogrel for platelets and 5mg Amlodipine for hypertension..

Has anyone had dizziness/spaced out feeling on either of these drugs ? Take them at breakfaast and symptoms start 1 hour after taking them. Thought I might take them at different times during the day..

Thanks in advance. Siftasam

I have been taking Clopidogrel on and off since 2017 without any issues. What I would suggest that if you do feel a little dizzy or lightheaded, I would try taking it when you get into bed to avoid any problems.

Clopidogrel no problem for me. In fact migraines, including TIAs, reduced 95%. I have taken them daily for eight years. I didn’t take to amlodipine so doctor switched me to an alternative.

Hi it’s more likely to be the amlodipine as that’s more for your blood pressure. I’m on Bisoprolol 3.75 and I get lightheaded when ever I stand to quick or I bend over and come back up.

I’m on several drugs including Clopidogrel and amlodipine. I do get dizzy sometimes but I’m sure that’s caused by my high level of tinnitus rather than the drugs. I agree with the comment it’s more likely to be caused by the amlodipine rather than Clopidogrel, as the amlodipine is to reduce you blood pressure. Do you have a blood pressure machine ? It might be useful to check your blood pressure when you feel dizzy!

One common side-effect of clopidogrel is dizziness, and this can also occur with amlodipine. Report these symptoms to your GP as they can prescribe alternatives. I would suggest just changing one at a time to see which, if any, is causing this symptom.

NO problems at all on clopidogrel. NOt taken the other one. Do check with either a chemist or your GP before changing time of day. SOme tablets have to be taken at certain times.

I have been on 75mg Clopidogrel since 2007 and was told not to take it with any other of my medications as it does not interact well with other medications if that is of any help to you, I have not had any problems with Clopidogrel. I can't comment on 5mg Amlodipine as not a medication I have been given. Perhaps check with you GP.

Hi Sailalong!I had a TIA 2 weeks ago and have been prescribed Clopidigel to be taken in the morning, and like you, get that “dizzy and spaced out feeling” midday. I was already on Moxonodine (about 8am and 5pm), Bisoprolol (at 7pm), Statin( at 8pm) and Ramipril ( at bedtime I.e 11:30) but it is only with the Clopidigel I get that reaction, so you are not alone!

As and when I can get an appointment to discuss it with my GP, I will, although she is not the one who prescribed it.

Yes, I have had the same. A little unnerving as the concern is, of course, whether it is a precursor for another TIA. Quite relieved to hear that someone else is experiencing the same.
