slow heartbeat!!!

Apple Watch keeps warning me heartbeat under 50, mostly 40 then up to 80/98 .85 years old with permanent AFib and AFlutter, on several heart medications. CKD stage 3B. Should I be worried, hard to see Dr these days! Thank you, from Organplayer!

Hi Organplayer. I was diagnosed with AF last year. Freaked me out at the time but now don’t give it much thought. I’m on anticoagulants to give protection against stroke. As I understand it, you and I have permanent AF rather than the intermittent kind that lands people in A&E. The irregular heartbeat is what AF is, so no surprise there but it might be worth reporting your Apple Watch findings to your GP to be sure. You’ll probably find reception at your practice will pass on a message to the doctor and then he/she can see you or phone you.

I wouldn’t panic too much; these devices have to detect a problem to keep us all thinking how indispensable they are!

I’m not being flippant but have you considered not wearing the Apple watch? What really matters id how you feel. If you didn’t know abot the pulse rates would you be concerned?

Are you taking a beta blocker such as Bisoprol? They slow your heart down.

Put the watch back in the box they're more trouble than they're worth . I used to use one when exercising and it wouldn't let me do anything , it kept telling me to stop. About 15 years later, unaware of my heart rate now and going with the flow. 👍

Hi OrganplayerI have been in permanent AF for 20yrs or so which has resulted in thickening of part of my heart muscle resulting in a diagnosis of heart failure.

My heart rate does drop into the 30s at rest sometime but does recover on moving about so cardiologist doesn't recommend a pacemaker at the moment.

It's just a matter of knowing your limitations and adjusting your lifestyle
