Hello :-)

Some take Bisoprolol and have no side effects at all and then others do and they do make me feel very tired not sure if they make me confused as I think I am already that anyway :-)

I have stuck with them well over a year but the tiredness now is to much so I am about to try a different beta blocker

If they are making you feel this bad speak with your Doctor they may agree for you to try something else :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Not me.

I was first put on 1.25 of bisoprolol in early 2017 then later that year (I think) upped to 2.5 mgs. A couple of months ago I was put on 5 mgs of bisoprolol and so far I can't say I have had any side effects.

We can all react differently to our meds especially when taken with other medication.

You should mention this to your GP or Cardiac nurse to see if this is a common occurrence.

I am on the max dose of bisoprolol, and feel very drowsy mid afternoon. I tried taking it at night to see if I slept better, but it doesn't work like that for me. As others have suggested, discuss with your GP if you can swap it for another. We all have different reactions.

Hi,I've been on 2.5mg Bisoprolol since April and I'm tired all the time. I've literally got a 24 hr monitor on now, they told me it will go to cardio dept to be read before my first outpatients app, that's when I'm hoping they might change it. It seems to affect people differently obviously but this tiredness is debilitating as I'm sure you agree.

Hi there, sorry you're feeling so grim. My docs took me off bisoprolol after a few weeks, I almost passed out a few times and got really dizzy when I stood up from sitting. Felt exhausted and tired all the time. Dreadful sensations, and it stopped when I stopped the meds. I think its quite common, as its a beta blocker and I think opens up the vascular system so drops the BP etc. Best to go back to your docs ASAP and see if they have alternative? They gave me another non beta blocker drug instead which has its own catalogue of lousy side effects too ... hope you get an alternative soon

Morning, I’ve taken 2.5mg Bisoprolol since my heart surgery on the 27/2/20 and have to say I feel fatigued a lot. Sometimes I seem ok but often I cannot be bothered with doing much at all. I do feel much more energised in the evenings though. It’s weird and I do not know whether Bisoprolol is the causation or not.

I was initially put onto 1.25mg Bisoprolol after being diagnosed with SVT. It worked for a few months but the lurches/flutterings came back tenfold [had to have a cardioversion]. It also lowered my HR between 41 to 45 bpm and the side effects were tiredness/dizziness and aching all over. I was then put onto Sotalol and, again this worked for several months - the dose I am on now is 40mg twice a day and I have felt awful since last December and the lurching/fluttering/dizziness/fatigue some days is debilitating. My HR is still low and if I exert myself the lurching/fluttering starts and it lasts for days. Confusion is another daily symptom. I had a Cardoilogy appt. cancelled until next month but am seriously thinking of asking to come off of them completely and put up with the SVT. I hope you can get advice from your GP but I found they like to leave it to the experts to make any informed decisions regarding your medication. Take care.

Bisoprolol lowers the heart rate, and as a result lowers the Blood pressure. This can result in drowsiness, light headedness, confusion etc. I went on 1.25mg od recently (2 months ago) because the doctor said that my resting heart rate was too high (80-85). Well my RHR is now 70-75 but my BP is anything from 90/60 up whereas it was 110/70. I get the above symptoms in particular in the am.

Bisoprolol is the preferred betablocker for many heart patients because the effect of it is effectively targeted to the heart. I came off bete blockers a year ago, probably for the above reasons, and the cardiologist thought that since it was a year since my STEMI and I had had a clear angiogram it was the right thing to do. I don't know what the next step is, but I have had various blood tests recently in the hope that it was something completely different. I am talking to a GP about them this coming week

Hi!Take a look at ‘drugs.com’, search on Bisoprolol then click on user reviews. You’ll see clearly that this drug is a godsend to some, but a nightmare for others. Always seems the way I’m afraid…

Good look with finding your personal solution, or at least an acceptable compromise.
