Rivaroxaban

As part of her treatment for AF and mitral valve problems, my wife is currently taking 20mg of Rivaroxaban a day. She is subject to quite heavy nosebleeds which can last up to 40 minutes. This is obviously of quite a concern to her and I wonder how many others have this problem. Are there any better alternatives to Rivaroxaban? She did try to have her nose cauterised at one point, but the hospital couldn't identify the exact source (seems a little strange to me).

Any suggestions and similar experiences would be most welcome.

Many thanks

Hello :-)

I was not on the same tablet as your wife but another one which was a blood thinner

I had very heavy nose bleeds and on an odd occasion they were so bad I had to go to A&E

I did have my nose cauterised 3 times but still it happened

When I came of the med I was on they seemed to have settled down so far

I would ask if there is an alternative medication she could try and see if this settles things down

Let us know how she gets on :-) x
