There is a lot you can do yourself rather than just wait to die. Exercise and diet is a good place to start.

You know you are high risk but the Drs have done all the tests they can and it looks like there is nothing obviously wrong, the ball is now in your court.

You've made a start, remember it is a marathon not a sprint.

Good luck.

Hello :-)

It looks like you have gone of track and let yourself go but you have realised what the main problem is and that is you are overweight

In time that would give you serious problems but you are 26 and have time to do something about it and you can :-)

Ask your Doctor if they will refer you to a dietician they can help you to know what foods you should be eating and how much etc meanwhile you will also know what is good for you and what is bad so make a start

You could do with joining maybe a slimming class and exercise class look on Google what there is in your area

It will not be easy to start with bit make these lifestyle changes and stick with it and it will help to make you feel physically better :-)

Good Luck you can do this :-) x

Can only agree with the other replies and add my encouragement and good wishes.

Cut out the highly processed junk, cut out alcohol, eat whole food plant based well thought out food- veg, lentils, beans, nuts, fruit.

Walk , little and often to begin with but try to increase the distance and pace .

You should start to feel in control, shift weight and sense that your health is improving.

Don’t reward yourself with alcohol /pizzas/cake.

Try to keep focussed on getting yourself sorted for long term benefits- it will reward you in gained years and body comfort.

Please, please do something and do it now! As it has been said here, your weight has to be taken care of. I think the best start is to join a weight loss group where you will get support and meet others in the same situation. You are only 26 yrs and if you commit to weight loss and excersice your situation will resolve naturally . I wish you all the luck

Had similar symptoms and all the tests the doctor's did on me showed fine until they did the Angiogram and it showed severe artery blockage. You should chase them to get that side checked out

I was getting on, 58. But it doesn't really matter on age the symptoms are the symptoms

Doctors do care, but with the time constraints they have and size of waiting lists there is only so much they can do.As others have said it's time to take a good look at yourself and loose some weight.

I weighed 22 stone, didn't exercise much, ate like a pig and I was a heart attack waiting to happen......folk called me Big John.

Eight years ago I started to suffer from angina......that was the warning I needed.....I started to think about what I was eating and started to exercise and took some long overdue responsibility for my health.

After a while folk just called me John as my weight dropped to 15 stone.

Despite my efforts I still had a heart attack last year.

I'm off to one of my exercise classes this morning as I don't want another heart attack and I'm doing all I can to avoid it.

I've found that if I'm positive and try to take care of myself the Doctors respond far more positively to me.

By the way I'm 70 years old.....if I can do it, you most definitely can.

You say ‘there is clearly something wrong with my heart’. Over the past months you have reported on many tests the doctors have done. They have not identified any heart problems. We (mostly) go to doctors because they have knowledge we don’t have. Because you are not satisfied with their responses you ask here ‘Has anyone got any ideas at all what could be happening?’

This is a group that I’m sure will tell you, if they have,

My own view is that you may well be getting various sensations (eg from your reflux), as our bodies are pretty noisy vessels, and sensations we don’t always fully understand, do occur.

So (again, just my view) it does seem worth exploring more about your anxiety about these.

Health Psychologists are very good at unravelling this interaction.

I have to say, yes losing weight and taking regular exercise is much needed for all of us but when I was around your age, and with a normal BMI and fairly active, I used to have many palpitations too, much as you’ve described.

It can be helpful to reduce caffeine and be able to manage stress and anxiety, if this is a problem for you as these factors can drive these funny flutters in the chest. Palpitations feel very frightening but I’m now twenty years on and I still get them fairly regularly. It’s great you went to A&E and all looked fine.

Simply focus on the things that are within your control and reach a calm acceptance to those that are not.

Good luck as you continue on your journey of self-care. 3 stone off is amazing!

Take care, Sal.

Acknowledging that you are overweight is a good start. The hard part is doing something about it.

As many people shared, the first step is to change your diet. I would also suggest you walk/exercise and increase duration/intensity slowly over time but since you're saying you now get these 'episodes' daily whenever your heart rate goes up then I would agree with CyclingTime . I too had symptoms and all the tests came back normal till I had an Angiogram. Then a triple bypass. Chase them to get it checked out.

You didn't mention if you have any family history of heart disease. Do you?

You're still very young and can improve drastically with lifestyle changes.

I hope things go well for you

You have had an ELECTROcadiogram, but you should request an ECHOcardiogram to definitively check your heart Chambers and valves... this is a thorough check more so than the ECG, ones a scab the other is a graph.

Had a ECHO and I feel ripped of tbh was £300 and half of the heart could not be seen/reported on due to my size which is my fault I understand but I was in there less than 10 mins and Feel like I wasted £300 which I didnt have tbh for a half reported echo :(

The echo images were limited due to yuor size. As you can appreciate for patients with a larger BMI the image quality becomes compromised. Nevertheless the scan shows the pumping action of the heart to be normal and the aortic and mitral valves were working as they should. As you did not have a consultation I cannot advise you about what this means for your symptoms.

I hope this normal scan reassures you. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

I am sorry you feel that you have wasted £300 but from what CAN be seen is it all okay?

TBH the only way you will get the information you need is to lose some weight and then get the information you need.

I carry a bit of extra weight and I know when doing my heart scan I was pushed into some very strange shapes just to ensure the technician could get a good reading.

Again I am sorry you feel you wasted the money, did you ask what the situation would be regarding getting a good reading as you are carrying weight?

Of course if you continue to have problems seek medical advice, otherwise lose weight and exercise hopefully you'll notice a marked improvement if not it will be much easier to make any medical checks to diagnose any underlying heart problems.
